Don’t think we have ever used cap space to bury bad contracts outside the ones the Flames signed themselves.

It never ceases to amaze me that this is even a job.

There hasn’t really been many returns outside of Hronek that have blown me away. So I don’t really care if they hold on to the summer. Would be a different story if they were UFA

Big difference, if they are moved in the summer, the return will likely have 2024 draft picks
Which is a weaker draft than 2023
As others mentioned, Lewis, Backlund, Tanev, Lucic (if possible) all should have been moved...

If anyone wanted Lewis and Lucic then sure. I don’t think late round picks are really that much different in any draft

And I guess I heard 11 1sts have been traded as of some time yesterday. I really wish the Flames could’ve gotten an extra 23 1st.

Who can be the most miserable poster today? If last night is any indication the competition will be fierce!

IMO the returns have been excellent on most trades. This has been a fantastic deadline for sellers.

Why would they keep them? Both are pending UFAs
With a deep draft, Flames should be acquiring picks....
Even if they are a 4th or 5th round selection.
Luke Schenn obtain a 3rd.

Powerplay Quarterback

As long as there’s any kind of chance at making the playoffs, the Flames won’t sell. Edwards’ goal has always been to be competitive and make a profit. And the only way to achieve that is to get at least one round of playoffs.
Of course that hasn’t worked out too well for the Flames. In terms of playoff series played over the last 15 years, they’re close to dead last in the league.

Less about keeping more about someone wanting them. Lucic would also have to waive. Every team has guys like Lewis.

Hey, you do you.
Go find yourself a CMU block wall and start banging your head against it as hard as you can. And whatever you do, don’t stop.

Yeah, if all the Flames were UFAs this deadline then sure. I just never expected them to sell unless an offer was too good to turn down. I think they should but it will be retool trades in the off-season. I’m not looking forward to the next deadline if they don’t do anything in the off-season cause then they will all be walked to UFA

It's just entertainment in the end let's just have fun and suffer in misery or happiness and go after James Johnson if need be.
