I bet offers are like a 3rd or 4th (or lower) if the Flames are asking the other team to take on full salary for Mang. Maybe even worse actually. He’s been pretty bad, honestly.

Jesus, this team.

With everything, they need to be more decisive earlier
Jarome trade/reboot, figuring out Johnny's future here, and now this season
They need to stop emulating the way I handle my responsibilities and learn from this kyit lol.
I think the cutoff was that eastern road trip after the break. After that Ottawa bed wetting they needed to call it. You knew at that point the confidence in the room was shot

Don't trade Mangi, please. Keep younger or young guys.

It's just a shame we're the one getting Erat side of the deal the majority of the time.

The Flames traded Brett Hull at the deadline.
Unless it's a crazy deal of the century, I hope they do very little.

Been better when put on a line that works (and works really well!). I don't know if I'd change the only line that works (including Backlund, with the aim for an extension)

Backlund should be traded, not extended. He's not getting any younger. Get what you can now for him. Team is reaching that Pahlsson level soon with him. Get something while you can. Stop hanging on until they aren't worth anything.

My guess is anyone on the roster is open to be traded. But my shortlist of most likely would be:
Huberdeau
Mangiapane
Lucic
Lewis
Hanifin
Markstrom
Vladar

Hubbie is likely to be traded at the deadline?
Give me an example of a realistic trade that he would approve.

I think the most likely scenario is status quo. And I’m fine with that. I think the Flames could justify that decision by saying they think the roster massively underachieved, (which it did in my opinion, primarily due to goaltending.) So, they think the team will rebound next year.
My preferred scenario is where they sell older guys aged 30+ for futures to teams like Carolina, Colorado, Vegas. But that may not be possible because players like Tanev, Toffoli, Backlund have contracts for next year creating cap implications and the list of buyers has dwindled substantially. The one exception to the 30+ idea is Zadorov. I would be very happy to see the Flames trade Zadorov. Also, the Flames may not want to trade any of these players because of the reason to stay status quo above. I didn’t mention trading Lucic or Lewis or any of the other UFAs because I wouldn’t want them if I was the GM of an opposing team, but crazy things happen at the deadline, and it only takes one. I don’t want to see thr Flames trade younger guys. I personally really like players like Hanifin and Mangiapane, and I’d like to keep them around.
I don’t think buying would be justifiable, and I would be frustrated if the Flames did that.
Lastly, I’m not sure if Treliving has the power to execute the moves he might want to. We’ve heard a lot about conflict between Sutter and hockey operations, and Sutter is the one with a contract for next season. I infer that ownership may have taken Sutter’s side because ownership has ultimate say over who gets contracts. Perhaps we have a lame duck GM?

Not sure if his NTC was carried over but if it was there's 24 teams he already approved. Montreal is the obvious fit.
Lets swing for the fences
To Montreal:
Huberdeau, Vladar
To Calgary:
Price, Dach, Hoffman and Anderson

I don't think the asking price for Lindholm will be met by 3PM EST but deadlines breed desperation.
Players with the most interest seem to be Backlund, Toffoli and Dube...Lewis will probably go tomorrow.
Flames D are of interest around the league to teams both in and out of the hunt but the same snag for the flames continues to hold them hostage.. Oliver Kylington.
Surprise name of day was Mangiapane - Having an average season but this could be the case of buying the potential..5.8M Cap hit for 2 more years is a sticking point...doesn't seem to have fire in his heart.
Challenge is Flames are not interested in complete future trades but teams don't want to subtract from their rosters in the hunt. Most teams that wanted to move 2023 1st rounders have done so.
|
Well it sounds like they waited far too long to try and get into the frenzy. That said it might not have mattered if their approach is to make a trade with getting hockey players back in return. The tidbit about not sure if they can sell D men because of kylington is concerning. Is there a chance he’s not coming back next year?

The management of this team has been awful for as long as I have supported it 1991. Truly dreadful and here we have yet another example of it, they have waited far to long (last day for gods sake) to tell the rest of the league they have some players to sell. The rest of the league has been at it for 2 weeks now and understandably those who were prepared to move 1st round picks have done their work. We miss again in a year when there are loads of good players at the draft. Just so poor.

What I don’t understand is if we are not buying or selling… why aren’t we supporting 1 year broker deals for teams to use 2.5-5.9 M in cap hit we have
