Gave the Senators an A grade and the Coyotes a B. I think both teams accomplished what they set out to do, albeit in a bit of a roundabout way for Arizona.

Arizona banking on the sens continuing to stumble into next year. Huge risk for Sens to do this, but Chychrun is a pretty good player.
The condition of Ottawa makes the 2023 ECF is frickin laughable though. 0 chance.
Wonder how Chychrun and Chabot share ice time, they’re both big minute munchers.
Next to 0 chance they make the ECF but if they did, their pick would fall all the way to 29-32 so my guess is the Coyotes asked for it on the very rare chance to protect themselves and Ottawa easily obliged.

Honestly, I dont think it is that much of an underpayment. Chycrun needs to stay healthy for the Sens to win this deal.
The reality is that this is exactly what the player was worth as probably half the league was engaged with Ottawa over the past few years looking to acquire the player and ultimately this is the best deal they could get. He's a good defenseman but it remains to be seen if he can stay healthy or is even elite. The Flames paying the same price for Hamonic is more a reflection of the one of the worst trades in Flames history and has no bearing on Chycrun's worth.
