It’s almost worth it for the whining to stop.

Wrong.
Major news is generally broken on places like Twitter. If CBC can't be on the leading edge of breaking the biggest story in decades, they should lose their funding as a news organization.

There’s also a pretty good case for why having a public broadcaster is important, especially when we see more and more examples of private media messaging being sold to the highest bidder.

Blindly complaining about CBC news at this point is just a test of how easily manipulated you are. It leans left at most but people act like its MSNBC or the National Observer or some kind of division of Liberal PR.

What did I say was wrong? The rest of your response doesn’t address what I wrote, it just seems to be you trying to further your narrative of wanting the CBC defunded.

Never fails, all anyone has to do in here is say the letters C B C or make a snarky comment on their reporting and we now have a full 2 pages dedicated to CBC protectionism initiated by people who were completely silent on a major scandal for days prior suddenly chiming in (of course not for the actual scandal), exactly as expected.
Here's the report in question for those who want to read it in full. It's effectively a rant against alternate media narratives and dismissing all political interference impact stemming from a quote from Sep 2022 from the CSIS deputy director.
https://www.canada.ca/en/democratic-...-protocol.html
https://www.thestar.com/politics/fed...-tell-mps.html
The issue of course as we know now, is not the federal election itself (for which the report focused on and for which foreign interference had a marginal effect at best), but the party candidacy nomination level that was heavily compromised. In other words, the report is meaningless with the ongoing scandal and does not effectively target current new allegations.
Oh and Trudeau's new friendly donors wanted a statue of Mao in Montreal.

For the record - I don't care if the CBC exists or not. Just pushing back against the CBC is super biased narrative.
As for this story - I don't see any indication that this government has been pro-China. We arrested that Huawei exec, we ban Chinese companies from 5G equipment. We've gone after them about Uyghur genocide, and Hong Kong.
So while obviously you don't want China influencing or pushing candidates into parliament and there should be hearings to find out why and how this happened - I don't see any sign that the government has been soft on China so I'm just following the news as it comes out and not particularly excited about it.

sorry to side track this discussion on the CBC; however, as I recall in november Trudeau claimed that he was not briefed on the interference - the national security advisor claims otherwise:
https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canad...d387c9029&ei=9
it would be interesting to know if since this news became public, if she rec'd any calls/emails from the PMO's office to discuss this

If he was actually briefed there would almost certainly have been minutes kept of the briefing.
