Bleacher Report article indicates Flames could be blowing it by not being sellers at the deadline...

Not quite. The high standard of not posting made up junk has surprisingly held up quite well around here.
An occasional rumour post here and there, made up or real details, doesn't really do much harm.
It's once it seems like anything goes that others start making trade rumours up just for kicks and we risk becoming Oil HF level where untrue stuff about player's personal lives is spread or other misleared comments being passed around as true. These are reasons these types of things were long moderated and required proving sources.

How good is Chychrun? I haven't really seen him play other against us and he never stood out. If we did somehow get him since Treliving loves getting guys with term, obviously we would need to shed cap and make space on the roster for him. Assuming Hanifin is the guy that gets moved, anyone have insight on Chychrun vs Hanifin?

Probably guilty of grass is always greener but I don’t see how Chychrun could be worse.
Haven’t watched him nearly enough to know for sure though.

2022/2023 Trade Speculation and Rumours
After last night’s game I felt like I needed to get my thoughts out on the team, the trade deadline, and just the general direction of the organization.
One word to summarize the season so far would be frustrating. It’s been frustrating because from what I have seen, this iteration of the Flames isn’t far off. I believe they lead the league in one goal losses. I haven’t checked, but I’m pretty sure we have more overtime losses than any other team.
This team is never out of a game. In fact, they generally out play the opposition on most nights. Last night was a great reminder that this team hasn’t given up and they haven’t tuned out the coach. They absolutely dominated the best team in the league.
It’s the rare mistake that always seems to come at the absolute worse time, it’s in the inability to find that one extra goal when they need it (and probably deserve it), and it’s the lack of just one extra save per game.
With how poorly the goalies on this team have played this season, it’s kind of remarkable they are even in the playoff hunt at all. They have collectively been one of the worst tandems in the NHL.
In my mind, Markstrom and Vladar are bound to bounce back at least somewhat next season. Dustin Wolf has proved all that he can in the AHL and is officially a stud prospect. He is ready to get some games.
How many times have they hit post this year? If the puck luck turned around a little bit and Markstrom has even half as good as he was last season this team is probably competing for a top 2 spot in the division.
I know lots are clamoring for them to sell pieces like Toffoli, Hanifin, Lindholm, Tanev, etc, but the way I see it that time has passed. This team is committed (at least in the short term) to Huberdeau, Kadri, and Weegar. They have to make moves to compete now.
I’m not suggesting that they spend draft picks to buy rentals. What I would like to see is some creativity. I realize you can’t have a season like this and change nothing.
Try to make a hockey trade, get somebody with term, sell off someone for picks, but then use those picks for a “now” player like Chychrun or somebody.
I know this season has been tough, but I would not be surprised to see this team compete for the division next season with some tweaks. I hope Treliving can find a way to get creative.
Edit: I forgot to mention Huberdeau. I think he is bound to get more comfortable. His offense will come eventually, he has basically reworked his entire game under Sutter. It took Gaudreau and Tkachuk some time too.

Imagine if both Lindholm and Hanifin got traded back to Carolina. That trade would become a full circle

And we're supposed to be happy with the TDL outcome? Doubt it.
This GM has squandered an entire season by not addressing a glaring issue in net. Why would any Flames fan want to keep this dud around at this point?

You are genuinely welcome.
If you close your eyes real hard, perhaps your imagination will be able to generate the same level of content for you right there. You don't even need to bother your eyes with reading it. Or i can direct you to the Armchair GM tool on capfriendly.

I've seen two tweets that Carolina and Calgary are up to something. I believe Friedman mentioned Toffoli. At this point it's not a question of if we're selling, but when.

So much talk about puck luck lately.
If you're relying on getting better puck luck to be a good team, then you're not a good team.
Maybe you are getting puck luck. Maybe if you were not, you'd be missing the net instead of hitting the post.
For the most part, I think it comes down to good players and good teams making their own luck. I bet other teams have just as many slightly missed chances and posts but they make enough other plays to make up for the ones that didn't work out.
How many goals against have nothing to do with the other team getting puck luck but instead are caused by boneheaded plays and bad goaltending?
Puck luck is a myth and used to excuse an under performing team.

Well said.
Puck luck might lose you a game or two, but it won't lose you the season
