If it was any food other than bacon, I might agree about being too picky.
Really though, I don’t think there should be lines at a buffet. It should be anarchy. Why should you wait in a line-up if there’s only a few items you want?
I agree it's fine to be picky about bacon. I like mine crispy and in a buffet there's a prime 30% of pieces that are my sweet spot and I'll grab those. But I'm quick about it. It's the slow thinkers and slow movers that are the root of the ground gears IMO.

For the last 2 weeks I’ve been on vacation, eating at a buffet every day.
I never realized people are so picky with bacon. Have a line up of 15-20 people behind you? No problem, just keep moving the bacon around in the serving dish, hoping to find that perfect piece (whatever that it is). Take 2 minutes, hell, take 3. ##### everybody else. I still have no idea what people were actually looking for in there. I pick up the serving tongs and grab bacon and put it on my plate in about 10 seconds. I guess I’m an amateur.
There are two broad groups of bacon eaters: the people who prefer it burnt to a crisp and those that like it with a bit of chew. I would definitely try to pick out some pieces with my preferred level of doneness.
Thank you sir. It seems the median age here is around early to mid 40s, making us in our 20s when that came out. I just assumed everyone would know what I was referencing haha. The more you know...

I think you could have ended your gear grinder at the first paragraph.

That’s true. I guess if you’re eating at a buffet, maybe try to find a better dining experience. I mean, unless you’re staying at a Fairmont or something, buffets are kind of a novelty that wears off once you become an adult with disposable income.

Buffets at a lot of all-inclusive type places (resorts, cruises, etc) or at a lot of functions are pretty much in-line with the quality of the place. It doesn’t have to be a Fairmont to have a buffet that is as good as 95% of sit-down restaurants.
I don’t think it has much to do with adulthood or disposable income, either.

Exactly, there are buffets out there that are perfectly aligned with CP annual average income. That being said, if your breakfast buffet is of such a low caliber that you're eating out of a tin full of bacon, instead of just getting yourself a nice fresh bagel with some lox, onions and capers, what are you even doing, you peasant?

Buffets are pretty standard at all inclusives. Some are great, some aren’t.

You've been on CP long enough I expect you should know that the CP consensus is that buffets and all inclusives are for poor people, rubes and trailer trash.

I found the Banff Springs Sunday buffet to be extremely overrated for the price. It was like $75 bucks a person! No way i am eating 75 bucks worth of brunch food

I had a great buffet on Saturday and it was a much more reasonable $28. The bar at the Whiskey Jack lodge at Lake Louise. Man it was so good.
I've had the Banff Springs Sunday brunch and, yeah, like any luxury experience it's overpriced if you look at the base experience in isolation. Is $75 worth it for the food alone? No, of course not. You're also paying for the experience, though, and I think it's reasonable to expect to pay a premium to dine in a beautiful location (the mountains) at an absolutely extraordinary facility (Banff Springs). Not something you'd want to dish out for every Sunday, but as a special treat I don't think the pricing is unfair and the food is very good. I mean, brunch buffets don't really get any better than that. Not trying to say it isn't expensive, but I think the price is justifiable and they seem to be able to fill it up, so I guess the market agrees. Don't blame you if you don't see the value, though.

Just my opinion, but the Banff Park Lodge buffet is hands-down better that the Banff Springs. Frankly, the BPL is fantastic! I can't remember the cost (it's not cheap either), but it's not someting I would do every weekend either.

Serious? Hah, I stayed there with my daughter and all her friends for her 16th birthday this time last year and we didn't even go to it. Damn. Will have to try it.

I haven't been since pre-Covid, but we used to hit it up a few times a year. I think it's cheaper in the summer also!

BS has two buffets on Sunday. The breakfast buffet which is like $40 and the brunch which is significantly more. Gold floor used to have their own buffet as well, not sure if it's still a thing.
The father's day/mother's day/holiday brunch is even more expensive at something like $109.
