Honestly I dont even blame Markstrom anymore - this is on the coaching staff.

He's been bad all season, and now his wife is at home and potentially could have the baby at any minute. This roadtrip and pregnancy would have been the perfect excuse to give him a little break.

Last year, they’d ring the puck around the offensive zone boards to tire out the defenders and then set up the slot pass / drive to the net. This year, they just keep ringing it around the boards until they turn it over.

It was a missed pass that bounced off the boards, not like a nice rocket one timer where he had to move laterally quickly.

Similar plays happen multiple times every game, if those are unstoppable NHL games would all end 8-6. If he's even just at the top of his crease and square to the puck it would hit him in the body and be seen as an easy save.

He let in 2 on 2 shots and has a .888 save percentage on the season, he doesnt get the benefit of the doubt.

Honestly it's driving me a bit bonkers the excuses people are making for the goaltenders and especially Markstrom. Neither of those goals tonight was a unstoppable goal. He's a $6M dollar, former Vezina candidate. He has to make some saves.

I would have left Markstrom at home for the trip with his very pregnant Wife and called up Wolf.

Gave Wolf the start against the Coyotes and Vladar the Knights and Avalanche.
