Honestly for me, it wasn't the peeling. I keep mine covered even though I'm eager to show it off, for a day. I use the moisturizer for a few days and it keeps the peeling to a minimum.

The biggest pain in the butt to me is getting the ink that didn't settle into the skin off.

The funny thing is Tattoos are a bit addictive, One you get one, you have to get two then three.

For me like I said the only concern is the blood thinners which can lead to extra bleeding and in some cases tattoo distortion. I plan on dropping in on my artist to see if its possible, if he's done it before and if its worth it. But I have some ideas for new ones that don't involve butterflies on my ankle or a whatever I like to think of single tattoos leading to stories. So for example I put that dragon on my shoulder that my dad created. I put four roses under neath it because I have three sisters and my mom's name is Rose. I'd love to do my armed forces crest in there too in some way.

Adam Savage (Mythbusters) has a tattoo ruler on his forearm. Says he uses it daily.

I saw (online) a chef once with a series of circles tattooed on his palm for quick measurements of ingredients. Also Mythbusters is awesome, Adam Savage is awesome and RIP to Grant Imahara who was also awesome.

Yeah, and when you do things like that or have tattoos that have meaning to you personally, it really doesn't matter if other people think they're cool.

Growing up the only person I knew that had a tattoo was my neighbor at the end of the street. He had an anchor on his arm, and I think the name of the boat her served on when he was in the Navy. He said he got it in honor of his cremated that he lost.

I get that. It stuck with me, and I always thought a tattoo should be something meaniful that honors something most people don't experience.

When I was younger I used to think that random people getting a butterfly or barbed wire would devalue the memorial tattoo, but I don't think that anymore.

A few years ago I was away at meetings where a fellow board member recently got a forearm tattoo. It was well done but still fresh so it was itchy and the skin was peeling. It looked awful (not the tattoo, that was really well done, just the healing experience). Solidified by wimpiness and desire to not get one. Haha.

That said, I'm not going to say I'm never going to get one, but the right circumstances would need to present themselves.

Also when I was a kid my mother told my brother and I if we ever got a tattoo she'd cut it off with a cheese grater. So yeah, even now as semi-full grown adults neither my brother nor I are inked.

I'm just not into tattoos either. Not for me. They are for some and that's for them.

I can appreciate the good artwork that some people have inked on them. I can also judge a person for the poor taste they have (or poor ability to pick a decent tattoo artist)!

Some people I really wonder what they were thinking... like post #61 in this thread....

Never say never but I'm pretty sure I'll never have one.

Nothing says "untreated mental illness" like self-mutilation to the point that you look like you belong to the Argonian race from The Elder Scrolls.

For me, after getting a big one, I couldn't get a small one afterwards. My 3rd one which has been planned for like 10 years now would be the largest. The plan is/was to get one of the Great Wall of China to fill my entire back with all the details but I don't think I'll ever come around to getting it. If I do, will definitely bump this with an epic bump! The full back is about as big as it can get!

My tattoo guy is still working hard to dissuade me from a tramp-stamp of a Demonic calculator with wings and teeth.

Are you thinking having a colour piece or black and white? I've got 2 artists in mind who could do an incredible job if you're looking for recommendations. One is solely black and white, the other is both black/white and colour, and both of these guys specialize in realism. Edit: the guy who does black and white only also does a ton of Asian style tattoos, and if I were going for a black and white piece he would be my pick without a doubt.

Lol! I'm the last guy who would ever get a tattoo, much less anything sports related.

I have a few tattoos. They all have meaning for me. I got my first at 21, then 27, and I've had 4 over the last few years. All pretty small, largest about a hand sized.

I liken the pain to scratching a sunburn with a paperclip. I've never really had aftercare problems. I think that probably gets more serious with bigger tattoos and complicated colouring. Most of mine are just black.

Recently, I started tattooing just for fun. Got a kit and all the tools etc... I did my first one on myself a couple months ago. Just scratched "This is only a test." into my leg. I dig it. Didn't hurt really at all. Less than when someone else is doing it.

My favourite is the one of my late dog's paw on my chest. The artist mixed his ashes in for me. So he's there all the time. I think I'll be doing something similar with all my family members at some point.

Guy at the gym this eve… shaved head but full mix of tattoos where hair normally would be. From 10-15 feet away I couldn’t differentiate any pattern style or anything. Probably not cool to walk up close and start checking out his noggin. He definitely was working on the tough guy swagger and persona but seemed jovial enough he’d likely be open to a “so tell me about your tats” opener. So what’s the best, or worst, way to ask someone about their ink?

Just curious, was it a tattoo of a dog?
