Dumb comment, and just flat out wrong. Against Dallas he was insane actually. If your expectations are higher than that it’s your expectations that need adjustment as Roy, Hasek and Brodeur wouldn’t have met them.

Don't spend anything at the deadline. This team does not deserve it.

No other coach in the NHL would be force feeding these starts to Markstrom. It's completely insane.
Can't wait for Sutter and his crap style of hockey to be gone.

Sutter will be GM before Treliving is allowed another coach hire, imo,

There is a confidence issue and a work ethic issue. You have to keep skating and winning puck battles until the game is over. Like Estrada said they decided they’d won and basically stopped digging and the Sens took advantage.
|
They deserve to be where they are. A bubble team. If they play well enough to make it down the stretch, they will deserve to be in.
It’s really that simple.
Every bubble team has annoying warts. The flames are no different.

We need to win that game though. I would give him the Vegas game.

The Edmonton series broke him

I seem to recall some on this board calling him the new Tommy Salo after the Oilers series. These people were on point. That series destroyed his career.

Saying “he was never really a good goalie” is absolutely ridiculous.
Crap on him for this season.
But he’s had the resume of a decent starting goalie.
|
I live in Victoria. I heard over and over again locally how markstrom could never handle the pressure. Now I hear it on here and feel the same way.
It's a pattern and I think it's pretty obvious

Markstrom is so much better than this. He was a monster in Vancouver and was unbeatable for most of last year. Went toe to toe against Oettinger putting up the best goalie performance in a decade and outplayed him.
But just average to bad every single game this year. It makes no sense. Talented players don’t just forget what made them great.
If I had to guess he’s probably injured and the Flames are continuing to insist on him playing through it. Wouldn’t be the first time the team pisses away a core player through accumulated injuries.
Sogaard doesn’t even have a .900 in the AHL and he wasn’t tested tonight. Built a 3-1 lead mostly on Ottawa failing to cash in on their chances only to give them back the favor in OT. Hanifin making it 4/5 on recent Flames breakaways to not require a save from the goalie. At least Pelletier hit the next last game.
Kadri dog#### again. So happy to have his retirement paid for. Would rather have Monahan on the LTIR and give Kadri’s minutes to Rooney.

Markstrom makes sure this team gets to OT, for better or worse.

Dear Mr. Sutter, Please Play Markstrom every game for the rest of the season, ZERO starts for Valdar = you get Bedard. You're welcome.

Saying he was never a good goalie is legitimately one of the stupidest things I’ve read on this website and that’s saying something.

My favorite part of tonight is the point they earned actually moved them into a playoff spot.
Could be temporary if Minny gets a point and they’re tied at 1 in the third.

I was told the only way this team wins anything is with Markstrom so I spose we win nothing. Maybe he’ll be good next game. Or the game after that. He’s the only possible solution

At least those goalies got the Flames to the playoffs. Looking like our 6 million dollar saviour is going to be batting 1 for 3 as far getting the Flames to the playoffs. And in the 1 year he got them into the playoffs he played great in one series and crapped the bed in the other series.
