Rangers acquiring Tarasenko narrows the field for P. Kane
Some close to Kane believe that NYR was going to be the prime destination if he was going to leave Chicago
Odds of leaving Chicago get a little slimmer as there are only a handful of teams he will waive NTC for
Excellent market for Barbashev
Blues still might explore extension with O'Reilly
Meier trade could happen much sooner than March 3rd because if extension needs to be part of deal it makes sense to do the deal sooner.
So much interest in Meier that Sharks have a sense of the market.
NJ and Carolina among the several teams interested
Oilers are in a dollar in/dollar out situation with Yamomoto ready to come off LTIR soon.
Puljuarvi trade is a possibility.
Possible that Puljuarvi might be put on waivers. If he clears he could be more attractive because he could be sent up and down.
Luke Schenn likely to go down to the wire on March 2 or 3.
Canucks haven't decided what to do with Schenn.
Schenn has indicated he is fine with staying in Vancouver and signing an extension.
May come down to the quality of the trade offer on the table.
Yzerman weighing what he might get for Bertuzzi vs re-signing him

Ha. Only been hearing this for 2 years
At least 2 years ago he had some value

I would actually put in a claim and give him a spin with the team. The potential hilarity if it worked out would be worth the risk.

I might actually claim him if I were the Flames, they need to do something to shake up the forward combinations. Maybe he could be a fit with Kadri or Huberdeau, since nobody else currently in our lineup seems to be.
He may not be much, but wouldn't he at least be less of an offensive black hole than Lucic?

Absolutely. Sutter would be the right coach to build up his confidence. Heck, he managed to get Rob Niedermayer to be somewhat useful (yes, I am that old)

Maybe the hockey gods could do us a solid after our highest ever pick ended up being Sam Bennett and being traded for a 2nd round pick.
And yes, if something on the team clicked with him on the roster, the possibilities for teasing Oilers fans would be almost limitless.

Kane has had a pretty mediocre year, for him. And even retained he costs a ton in cap. This is what he bargained for.

Does anyone else think that is a crazy blunt quote from Kane?
He’s still a Blackhawk and he comes right out and says he was trying to angle a trade to the Rangers?
I mean it’s one thing for rumours and theories but a whole other thing when a player outright says “ya- they were my fave, but I guess I’ll go to these other couple places… I guess, whatever”
Like, yay now to the winner of the Kane sweepstakes? Also what do the Blackhawk teammates think? Strange quote.

Well, he is entitled to 100% call his shot and that team checked a lot of boxes - desirable city, needs help but has a lot of pieces including a star in goal, could afford a deal. I'm not sure what other teams are similar. The Canes could afford him. So can the Wild. But while those are solid teams, are they contenders he wants to relocate to for a few months?

If Puljujarvi goes on waivers, there’s no chance he makes it to us.

It's clear he's been injured (and likely unmotivated).
The motivation can change in a heartbeat, but is he still playing with an injury?
If healthy (and that's likely a big if), lots of teams would love to add him for a run.
I don't see the cap as a huge problem. 2/3rds of the season will have gone by, so a 50% retention would give him a cap hit of about $1.73M.

I think we should be focused on trying to get our own players going and no putting in claims for others teams garbage and adding another player we need to get going somehow.

You know what. If the team is going to be this boring and mediocre, year in and year out. Give me fireworks elsewhere. Trade 5 first rounders for a few weeks of Patrick Kane. Fire Treliving and Promote Sutter to Head Coach, GM and President. Hire Gilbert as a consultant.
Give me anything, I don't care

I'm still hoping that what Rhett said a few weeks ago comes to pass.
Next head coach of the Calgary Flames? Jarome Iginla. Let him be the face and coach of a rebuild like St. Louis in Montreal.
