I'm starting to think that the first line last year made an honest attempt to be better in their own zone and backcheck. In the offensive zone they abandoned sutters systems entirely and did their own thing. That's the difference. Huby is still clearly listening to the coach about offense.

This Flames team does not scare other teams with their offence. Too many 1 goal loses can blamed on a lack of offence from this. The talent is there but they can't score.

The best thing Tre can do at the deadline is nothing. Don't mortgage away the future on some rental player or trade assets for a short term fix. Leave the team as is and insert more prospects into the lineup.

I think Sutter is done, and I don't blame the players, as I think they are playing hard for him.

I wonder if Sutter has lost the dressing room.

If you think the team is bad now, just remember our "good players" are signed for the next 10 years to near age 40.

Yeah. Who's the next "big one" after Bedard?

That seems like a good time to come back out of our caves

Jesus, to actually end up 9th with no lottery odds after signing Kadri and Huberdeau long term?

Time to jump off the figurative bridge

Double shots. Half goals. Typical Flams.

When I read this morning that they were in on the Luke Schenn sweepstakes I laughed. I gotta admit I’ve tuned out a bit this year. That series against the Coil last year still sticks in my craw (whatever that means).

I'm not certain there was a single skater that played even just a half-decent game tonight. Where's this veteran leadership group and why aren't they getting this team prepared to play a 60 minute game? Their motiviation didn't kick in until they lost the lead in the third.

If Huberdeau was just a teensy bit more invisible, he'd become dangerous because no one, at that point, would be able to see him on the ice and he could sneek in and score. Naah...more like he'd sneek in and attempt a pass to someone.

Or do you mean team success to show for?

All the players who floated back on the game winning goal can sit

No, quite the contrary. The top line played Darryl Sutter’s checking style hockey to a tee. They checked like fiends in all areas of the ice and it lead to some of the best 2 way hockey we’ve ever seen.

The skill that they displayed though, you can’t coach that kind of ability. It was just god given talent and natural chemistry that Tkachuk and Gaudreau had.

The Flames should see what the offers are for all of their players. I’m not saying trade anyone, but I think they should at least see what the offers would be, especially for Backlund, Tanev, Coleman, Toffoli, and any other veterans having a good season.

Lucic is useless. Toughest game of the year, doesn't show up. Floats tonight on the back breaker

If there is any decency in the world the flames will be making tee times around April 15th.

It would be a crime to see them extract a few hundred dollars for 18,000 or so members of the nation in these tough economic times

Yeah I’m sure that checking like fiends worked when Johnny took a look at checking Drai or at least shadowing him and curled back up to the blue line and let McDavid go in unopposed for the series winner. Fiend like play for sure.

The Flames finally get that centre that will allow them to properly situate Backlund as the 3rd line centreman.

Plot twist: Backlund becomes the best centreman on the team.
