Maybe - or will he get matched against top lines because they want Horvat checking them? Would be be more free as a 2C?

Also I saw and found interesting

Islanders can technically convey the pick this year, I'm sure theres a drop dead date where it needs to be in by

If you are them and its pick 10, do you risk delaying it a year? I think they'd think about it

The 10th pick in this draft? I'd definitely think they'd protect it and take their chances next year. By the sounds of it this draft is pretty fantastic.

I think they might give it to them.

Lou would want to have the 2024 1st available to make another trade next year.

He made him wear #15 because he doesn't allow numbers over 40.

Lou's time is up in the NHL. His ideas and ways contributes to the league sucking and having a crappy product.

If I was an established Vet, I’d probably tell Lou to pound sand.

This coming from a guy who is typically a ‘Company Man’.

Horvat?

He has a specific reason for 53 too, a london knight goaltender who wore 35 died in a car accident right before his and horvats first camp with london was going to be, so horvat wanted to honor him

Canucks originally were going to not allow it as well when he showed up, but he explained story and so of course they allowed

It's a big risk though, especially if they are missing the playoffs... they arent exactly a young team

Not inconceivable that they fall off next season, and then they have it hanging it over the whole season, especially if they have a poor statt

One of the players in contention for first overall next year is another vancouver kid as well, macklin celebrini, his dad worked for the canucks, now with golden state warriors

So I dont think the csnucks would mind either way, even with how stacked this draft is supposed to be, with local players too

You could be right, but I do believe the islanders plan is to have Brazal play the wing and take advantage of his speed that way.

Plus, if they want Horvat to sign there, and I assume they do, matching him with their best player is a good way to do that.

Oh God I hope not. Don’t want to become the ‘BigBrodieFan’ of the Canucks Forum.

NYI has a had a bad month(ish) long stretch in each of the last 4 seasons.

This year they just had a 1-7-3 stretch (Pelech out for much of it). Before that they were pretty solid.

Last year they lost 10 straight (3OTLs at the end) at the end/after their absurd road trip to start the year.

In the 56 game year they had a stretch of 0-3-2 near the start (ended up losing 1-0 in G7 of ECF)

Into the Covid stoppage they were on a 2-7-4 run and barely clinging to the WC2 slot (ended up OTL in G6 ECF).

Lots of different ways you could interpret that, but I think you could say they are a streaky team that can be very dangerous in the playoffs if they get in.

I imagine they will try a bunch of things, like with Huberdeau here.

It isn't an auction and if you don't make your best offer or the Canucks didn't like your original offer then the team that lost out are the idiots.

Casey Czikas also wears 53 for the Islanders and has for 10 years. May be the reason that he got 14.

at the same time there was no need for the Canucks to rush

Yes here is the video to unveil the number. Pretty stupid thing to hang on too. The league has old school guys like Burke and Sutter but I never seen them cry over numbers.

Lou needs to leave the NHL dinosaurs like him hold the game back.

I wonder though if not being able to get 53 will play into Horvat's decision on re-signing with the Isles
