Okay, so I'll take your reply as you'd opt for the good tires on the front in that scenario.

Let's do another one. You're doing 100 on a highway and there is a sweeping curve covered in snow. I'd rather have my drive AND control tires be better than the rears. I could point the tires where I want to go and apply gas. Would you rather have the good tires on the back there? You'd fly off the road as you'd have no means of controlling the vehicle with the steering wheel or the throttle.

I put my good tires on the left because that’s the side I sit on.

Left front and right rear to balance things out.

Actually.
You slow the #### down before the corner so your steers aren’t overpowered and pushed into an under steer condition. That is both safer, technically speaking, and far easier to execute and predict, than having the rear end of your vehicle come out.

The thing is, for people like us, we love to do it. Who doesn’t throw the ass end out one way or another every time they can? And most of us don’t end up in the ditch or head first into incoming traffic every time.

But when you’re driving down the road, sharing it with other users, underwater is easier to mitigate, and easier to control when it unexpectedly occurs than oversteer.

If you have to use throttle to get out of a rear-end slide, you were going to fast into the turn. Intentionally it’s fun…into the oncoming lane in front of an oncoming family van? Dickheaded.

Stoney on the east side of the city is total ####. Very icy. Drive safe out there, everyone!

I've had this same discussion on reddit and the majority took Sliver's incorrect stance there as well. Sadly the majority of people still think traction is about not spinning your wheels under acceleration, completely missing the most important aspect: Stopping

This isn't a topic where there are simply differing opinions or viewpoints, there's the right way and the wrong way to do it

Dude you've spelled out the reasoning exactly here. There's more weight in the front.. here you are correct.
So you feel like an all star because you just drove up fortress with the good tires on the front. Driving back from fortress you enter death valley and a cross wind totally takes you out like the second coming of ryan Nugent-Hopkins because you put ####ty tires in the back and have no weight to balance it out. You're cooked. Congrats

What you're saying is dangerous, so I'm sorry I won't let you win this one
Put whatever tires you like on your scooter. Stop telling people to do something that might very well kill them on the highway

I'm not telling anybody to do anything. It was a hypothetical. Do you get all weird when somebody asks if you'd rather fight 100 duck-sized horses or one horse-sized duck, too?

A hypothetical to a realistic situation that actually has a correct answer versus a hypothetical to an imaginary scenario. [shrug]

I know it has a correct answer. I gave it. Dude couldn't even reply when I asked a pointed question (the hill) or another one (the curve).

What is there to say besides 'don't do it'? I'm sorry I didn't realize you were speaking hypotheticals initially. But winter driving on the highway is dangerous enough without advice that is abject nonsense.

Except it’s not hypothetical at all…literally this discussion is because someone doing the exact thing, like scroll up a bit Sliver.

It’s okay to be wrong, and to have the belief you’re right based on your experience. Like vaccines cause autism if you knew someone who knew someone who had autism and they were vaccinated. Or the earth is flat if stay in the prairies and don’t read a book or watch tv or go for a drive or look at the sky.

twice today drove behind vehicles going 50 in an 80 along the same stretch of road

long straight route, no stops

also no one ahead of them for a mile, but they accumulate a line of cars behind them with varying levels of patience and stopping room given by those creeping up from behind

it's so much more unsafe to drive like a snail in that situation because of the jam you create in your wake, rather than keeping it near the limit where people are more likely to leave a gap and everything flows more smoothly

there's no excuse for driving that slow with normal visibility

Might have been my dad lol, was riding with him today and he was driving about 50 in the 80.. mind you the road was not clear or bare and did have slick sections, but still I felt bad for the people behind us, sorry if it was you!

My son says he'd rather people be over-cautious than over-confident if they're going to mis-judge the conditions and their abilities.

It's possible! It was no issue for me since driving home isn't a rush. the speed just seemed unnecessary even though there are slick looking sections because it is straight and without stops or traffic lol. maybe on a curving road it makes sense

I was just confused by it happening twice, both times the drivers not trying to speed up at any point .. just nfg

Good tires improve handling of snow

Physics are best as you move towards management of ice
