I fall firmly on team last kingdom.
But for Vikings Ragnar, and Floki carried the show.
And I liked the vague nod to historisism if not factually accurate, at least there were giving there take on some well established classic legends. I think hurts the story, when they do thinks like misplacing Rollo 50 years in history, or having Ivar go all Varangian instead of Irish, just because they wanted to reach out and grab historic events that didn't fit their story.

I can't recall much of season one, but I remember I quite liked it. Now that I'm done the last season I wish I hadn't watched it.

Ugh, just finished season 2 and it was really bad. The 7th episode was good, and the rest were almost universally awful.
The first season started out good and as mentioned the "twist" completely ruined it.

Or Sub Rosa . That is the single worst episode of any trek in my opinion

That seems to be the standard one, although Darmok or Measure of a Man are probably better examples of what TNG is about.
Duet, though...

Felt the same way. I'm glad I stuck with it to get to episode 7 because that one was a lot of fun, but the rest were pretty forgettable.

Tapestry is my favorite episode of TNG.
The Visitor is a really great DS9 episode. Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang is one of my faves too, but you kinda need to be already be a fan for that one. Also, Hard Time, which is like a reverse Inner Light and dealing with the mental fallout someone would experience if something like that actually happened to them.

I wouldnt go so far as to say 'awful' but you are right, there are episodes that have been an absolute chore.
Some of these are taking actual work and commitment to get through.

What's the episode where Barclay turns into a demigod? That's the one I'd recommend.

For investigative journalism, I enjoyed Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller. It's on Disney/National Geographic.
When I watched SeaSpiracy (NetFlix), it was off putting, but I left open the possibility it was overly slanted against the fishing industry. After watching a Trafficked episode about fishing, it was even more off putting, leaning towards disturbing. I'm hoping headway is being made, but it sure seems like that industry is headed towards disaster territory. Anyway, I enjoyed each episode in the Trafficked series.

It took me 11 years, but I finally returned to and finished Six Feet Under. And man, what a ####ing fantastic series.
I'm not sure I've ever quite experienced a masterful bookend in TV. As in the pilot and finale were perhaps the best episodes.
It's available in it's entirety on Crave/HBO. Yeah, I ####ing recommend this series.

I just got around to watching Midnight Mass...Holy. Balls.
Emphasis on 'Holy' as it has very religious overtones, but not in the manner you might think, the religious aspect of it is essentially trying to use overly religious themes to shine a light on humanity.
But what a series...I'd highly recommend it although I know I'm definitely late to the party on this one.
Its on Netflix. I'd say a solid 8.5/10.
The pacing is...its very strange. It goes from very slow and pedestrian to warp speed at the drop of a hat, there is no middle ground, but its just so fantastic.
I could say a lot more about it, but the show really is worth watching. Written and Directed by Mike Flanagan of 'Haunting of Hill House/Bly Manor' and 'Doctor Sleep' Fame.
It had a very 'Stephen King-ian' vibe to it, but its not based on any of King's works.

as the mystery unravels it all sort of comes to a head, as the plans are unveiled.
that being said if you weren't vibing with the themes of the slower episodes I'm not sure the payoff will have a lot of value.

Kind of goes back to what I said in my prior post.
The pacing of the episodes starts slooooooow.....and yes, it gets frustrating, but within episodes they get to points where this thing thats been slowly burning for a while just explodes!
Furthermore, regarding the pacing, the series as a whole has a slow-burn at the beginning but after a while you realize that the whole series is slowly building up to an impending crescendo.
Anyways, I highly, highly recommend it.
