Post 378 would indicate it's more than just the slot. I never heard of it before though.

I'm honestly kind of surprised at how few people have heard the phrase royal road. The Flames lack of chances across the royal road has been something I've noticed all season.

Surprised as well. It was talked about a lot when Glen was punted that the team lacked moved the goalie side to side and using the royal roads.
That changed when Peters came.
Both of the goals the Jackets scored came using that area of the ice and you can see why passes in that area work well to create a better shot as your are moving the goalie which is something we have failed to do.
The Flames generally seem to come down the ice but hardly use that play to get that goalie moving, instead the puck carrier either takes a shot, makes a drop pass, kind of nudges it into the middle of the ice just rim it around and try to create off the cycle.
The goal Lucic scored vs St.Louis is a perfect example of why that type of play is one of the best coming off the rush instead of wasteful shots into the crest.

He also created some turnovers off the back check that never got converted.

You really go into every game with a preconceived view of what you're going to see don't you?
He had a break away, a penalty shot, he had all kinds of possession time in the Flames zone circling the proceedings, he deflected a puck off the post near the end of the game that almost was the game winner.
That and ran their powerplay and picked up two huge assists.
Invisible?

Yeah. Especially for this example. We are talking about shooting percentages going up from certain spots on the ice. It's not as though shooting from the "Royal Road" at centre ice is going to give you some great shooting chance.
Even then, I don't know if this stuff is entirely true. Many players, for example, Ovechkin, purposely position themselves so that they shoot from an angle, as it forces the goalie to turn their body, leaving the far side of the net potentially exposed. Maybe for less skilled shooters, the slot is the best place to score from?

It's all about crossing it ... making the goalie move.
A high danger chance is a rebound, deflection or pass into the homeplate area. Across the royal road the puck transfers through it to the other side.
The Flames have all kinds of shots in the home plate area (and on the royal road), but usually carry it there themselves with a set goalie waiting for them.

Of the four jerseys the Flames have worn this year, they have the worst record in the Blasty jersey at 3-3-0. They were 1-3-0 in it until they won the two games this week.
Records with points percentage earned:
Pedestal 3-0-1 .875
Home 8-5-1 .607
Away 9-8-7 .521
Blasty 3-3-0 .500
The Flames were 3-3-0 in 2020-21 while wearing Blasty.

Yes exactly what I do.
-2 on the night, got 2 powerplay assists. Carried the puck around the outside and had one deflection. If you think it was a dominant performance that's cool.
Anything else I said bother since you it seems you like to pick or certain people.

Are people forgetting Laine is a pure sniper with one of the best shots in the league? Yeah, you kinda wish Vladar got it, but I don't dwell on it. Laine has an insane shot and can pick his spots.

But do we get more penalties when wearing Black jerseys, as we look more “badass”?

Yeah I really ripped you a new one.
If you're going to come out with hot takes people are going to question you on it. If the hot take seems to be born from a bias damn straight I'm going to pick on it.
But I always aim to keep it classy, don't think I violated that rule in this instance.

The first thing comes to mind when I see that phrase was "Rocky Road" ice cream, god, I love that ice cream.

I think you're missing a key stat -- Vladar is 3-0-0 in blasty, Markstrom is 0-3-0.
Overall, Vladar is 6-0-0 wearing black jerseys, while Markstrom is 0-3-1.
The math is pretty simple: Darth Vladar + Dark Mode = Win

I don't think anyone disagrees. Those go in from time to time just because of the cannon. I mean, guys as old as me saw MacInnis putting pucks right through goalies.
I can guarantee though, that if we go and look at the loss to the Avs, there are some who were on Markstroms back for the Rantanen goals, including a very very similar one. And Rantanen is an even more dangerous shooter.

Different players, so it's hard to compare the two.
But yes, watching him was a bit sobering as he's still the same Johnny creating plays out of nothing and gaining the zone. This team is sorely missing a player that can do even half of what Johnny did.

Interesting. Maybe I was thinking of all the wins in the Pedestal.
