I think the point is fair we don't need trash on our team.

If we as a fan base are going to call out the Oilers for taking on scum like Kane we can't turn around and cheer on other scum like Bertuzzi.

Also he went into business for himself we need guys we know will be available for us to play.

I previously said 23 1st should be off the table, but rumor is that Elias Petterson is asking for a trade from van. That would be a worthwhile trade for our 1st (+ obviously.)

I’d be happy to have Bertuzzi on the team. Fits the bill on what this team needs on the ice quite nicely. If the acquisition cost really was a 2nd a mid-tier prospect, I think that fits what the team could afford to spend as well. Looks like he’s only played 12 games this season based on two different(?) hand injuries though - so there’s concern there.

For a guy who didn’t want to rehash the conversation you sure made a point of turning a drive-by joke by another poster into a conversation.

Regardless of how you want to sugar-coat the decision, I don’t want dumb, selfish guys on the Flames. If you don’t mind it, great, other people do. We don’t need another Neal type.

This Bertuzzi convo reminds me how twitter had a lot of fun during the MLB trade deadline because the Blue Jays traded for an unvaxxed player, Whit Merrifield. He had previously not been able to travel to Toronto during the season. Of course now that he had actually been acquired by a playoff team he was open to getting his vaccines.

Think this situation is a bit different because Bert is literally the only guy who won't do it in the league. He's obviously a bit different, in a certain political echo chamber. The Red Wings didn't pay him while he sat on his ass while they were on the road in Canada. Players on other teams felt he was fair game to chirp for it.

If there was any legitimacy to it, I tend to think it would be getting reported widely. It would be major news and on every hockey news platform you could find. It wasn’t that long ago Peterson was named the only untouchable by Friedman, so it seems at odds with what has been stated publicly.

Russo the Wild reporter on the Athletic mentioned it and there is a HF thread discussing that Pettersson is not happy and may not want to stay with the Canucks.

The Flames might be the last team in the league Vancouver would want to trade their 24 year old top center on pace for 106pts. The rivalry being one reason, the free agent poaching another, and the whole gifting us Tkachuk and Andersson the third.

23’ first would be starting point. Multiple firsts and prospects would be the going rate. Asset strapped Flames can’t be making those types of deals.

IIRC the first thing we were told back then was that Hamonic was concerned about his daughter and wanted to isolate even more than just the bubble. Not that he was a crank about the vaccine etc.
