I've heard it's so toxic in Vancouver nobody wants to stay. Maybe an overstatement but this all stems from ownership and trickles downward.
Wouldn't shock me if the Nuck's went full blown colonoscopy on the entire thing.

Because he's fine, but still an alt-right twat, when the team is winning. He's a whiny, alt-right twat when the team is losing. The major flaws in his personality become a lot less bearable when the team isn't winning. I don't think anyone in the organization expected to be losing like this so signing him seemed fine.
I'm just not sure what you do with him at this point. The guy was a poison pill. Trade him for a pittance? You lose. Let him walk to UFA? You lose. Sign him? Believe it or not, Lose.

The fan base has been asking for this since before the Sedins retired. Ownership won't. It's the same issue with every Canadian team, but it's magnified because of how dysfunctional things are right now.

HNIC:
NHLPA will get involved into whether Canucks mishandled Pearson's injury.
some concern this might be the end of Pearson's career
Tampa is interested in bringing back Luke Schenn
Canucks have spoken to some teams about Horvat
asking price is 3 players including the acquiring team's #1 prospect
nothing serious at this point, more the Canucks trying to read the market
no team has been given permission to talk to Horvat about contract extension at this point
belief is that Canucks will try one more time to re-sign Horvat
Friedman believes Rick Tochett will be the next coach of the canucks when they decide to make a coaching change
some progress has been made between Pastrnak and the Bruins
pending RFA Vince Dunn has decided to shelf contract discussions until the summer (1 year away from UFA)
CBJ has begun trade discussions on Nyquist
Coyotes would be open to moving goalie Vejmelka "if the deal is right". (in other words probably a lot like they are asking for Chychrun)

re: the Horvat ask. Remember when the asking price for Iginla was a first rounder, a premium prospect and an NHL player?
And then the Bouwmeester haul was going to be even better?

I agree. Horvat is a leader, and a heart-and-soul kind of player, but other than this season (where he has somehow put up 30 goals and 47 points in 42 games), he is essentially a 50-60 pt guy in a normal season. Not that that's a bad thing, but he's not a superstar player.

Nyquist makes 5.5M and has not been good, the Jackets will have to eat 50% of that to move him.

This is speculation by the writer, but he has Calgary as one of the three landing spots for pending UFA Tyler Bertuzzi.
https://thehockeywriters.com/red-win...-destinations/
He thinks a 2nd and a prospect like Phillips would get it done. I could actually see a rebuilding young team want to try Phillips out for the rest of the season.

Yeah, let’s hold on to someone’s personal health decision and bring it up again. Stupid post, dino7c - and associating him to Theo is a reach and a half.
Just move on.

I'm a big fan of Tyler Bertuzzi- he's a power forward with size, speed, and grit. He can score, too. But didn't he refuse to play in Canada during Covid, because he wanted to stay unvaccinated? I know he's Canadian, but I don't think his first choice would be to play here....
Extremely injury prone too.

Thanks for letting people know we’re not allowed to make fun of millionaires for being the only one of approximately 1000 people in their profession to make a stupid decision.
I’m sure they’re happy to have you in their corner.

Nah, just wanting to move past an idiotically divisive point of conversation that put a crack in our society and just…ya know, keep it focused on hockey.
If we still want to have that circle jerk of a conversation, go for it - but yeah, I’ll probably pipe up from time to time and ask “hey, do we really want to be re-hashing a point of conversation as personal as medical history?”
I’m not in anyone’s corner. I just saw some judgemental #%^* and figured I’d call it out.
I’d be happy to have Bertuzzi on the team. Fits the bill on what this team needs on the ice quite nicely. If the acquisition cost really was a 2nd a mid-tier prospect, I think that fits what the team could afford to spend as well. Looks like he’s only played 12 games this season based on two different(?) hand injuries though - so there’s concern there.

Getting butthurt about a joke turned it into a covid thread
He has said tons of Theo like stuff I bet they would get along. For a guy who is constantly injured it's not worth the asking price posted.
