This took place at Hampton Cove on the Highlands course of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Bitchin' tough golf course that challenges the absolute best golfers. Having played it, no way is that score possible.
What's the lowest you've been involved with in a scramble?
Lowest I've ever done was with a group of club pros and we shot 52. That also included us taking long drive and three of the proximities on the four par threes. We had two eagles and birdied everything else. This was not a fair contest by any stretch of imagination, but it was a charity event for a kids shelter and all prizes and money we won were donated to the cause.
Lowest in a 2 man scramble was 58. Myself and a buddy, who is plus, played together because our games really compliment each other. We were pretty pumped coming off the course but were crest fallen pretty quick when a 53 came in. We questioned it, but the groups behind and in in front of the winners validated the score. Also found out one guy played on the ASU golf team and his buddy was a guy from what is now the Corn Ferry Tour. When you get the right talent together a low score can be in the books.
46 though??? Hole-in-one on the hardest hole on the course, an albatross on another, four eagles, and birdies on the rest. Not buying it.

Me and a couple of really good golfers won a scramble with a legit -16. Everything, and I mean everything, was going right for us though. How you get to -26 is just beyond me. I think that some stroke shaving happens in almost all these tournaments, but come on...at least pretend that you're keeping a reasonable score.

I was reading through that reddit as well. It sounds like they had some pretty gimicky rules, where each player could buy 2 mulligans, and a free throw that doesn't count as a stroke and possibly some gimme rules that didn't even count a stroke as a gimme. If you're going to have a format that loose, then you can't really complain about stupid scores.

Played in a cash scramble in Daysland years ago. I think we were -19, which included a par on a par 5 haha. That got us into a playoff. Which we lost.
The most egregious one for me though was at our member-guest. Two man teams. Six holes each of best ball, scramble, and modified scotch. "Winning" team put up a net 47.

There's also video of someone confronting them in the parking lot, asking why they bailed so quick after collecting prizes. Apparently they wouldn't even stick around for the winning photo or anything. The two captured on video looked pretty sheepish and guilty.
I Also love the video of the guy announcing their 46 with such excitement, followed by the crowd of tournament players laughing and booing at the group for their obvious cheating.

Where you staying Iggy? Do you mind traveling? Budget in mind? I can make some recommendations for good values. You are coming down right in the middle of high season, and with the Super Bowl coming to town the price gouging is a little extreme this year.

Anyone have a Garmin R10? How do you like it? Use it indoors? Trying to figure out if I have enough space.

You need approx. 14' (8' from screen to you then 6' to the R10.) to use it. I love mine, can't beat the value you get for the price.

Same sentiment here. It’s great, and while it’s not as good as say Flightscope, it’s pretty impressive. It tells me everything I need to know and I’d recommend it. I don’t have enough space to hit driver, which is the one drawback for me. But, I basically hit 7 iron and just work toward improving contact and my swing.

We use the R10 in the garage, and works well. Picking up a dozen RCT balls helps with accuracy a lot too. My son uses it at home and also has a member at a local Trackman facility, and distance/backspin numbers are pretty right on. The R10 doesn't do much with sidespin though, so the R10 will show a lot of hooky and slicy shots as straight that the $10k machines will pick up on. Nothing really touches the R10 in the <$1k range.

You gotta be net -18 to -20 to win the 4-man scramble (ambrose events) at our club, so when I saw that 46 I couldn't believe those guys would even try showing their faces.
I've seen a liberal 1 club length taken in these events to get around an obstacle, but I've never seen outright cheating.
The recent scramble I played was at Royal Melbourne with a 3 person team. We ended up a gross -6 and handicap got us the win as that took us to -14. The wind was howling so they got rid of the 3 drives rule (we made it anyway), and everything else went right (long bomb eagles, hit a lot of one putts for birdie or to save par, and drives in the fairway each time).

Is this basically a carbon-fibre version of the Rogue? I have that, and when the user knows what he's doing it's amazing.

i am going next tuesday for a lesson at Golf365.
only about 108 more days until we go to palm springs and it would be nice to shoot less than 100 for at lest one round.
I plan to try and go and hit balls at RCGA at lest once per week until we go to PS

I've been spending some time in the sims this winter, just so I don't forget how to swing a club. It's fine, but I'm not convinced it's going to help all that much more than a driving range, as I find they're oddly conservative about the distance I'm hitting (i.e. shortchanging me about 20 yards on some drives) while being very generous on the direction (i.e. apparently unless I get under the ball it pretty much goes dead straight). Then around the greens, I find that the receptiveness of the greens themselves are questionable (balls behaving as if the green is made of plexiglass and being overly sensitive) and the things simply cannot figure out what a putt from off the green will behave like.
They're still pretty fun but I just don't know if they're actually helping me practice in any meaningful way.

I'm not aware of a sim in Calgary that has Trackman.

I'm surprised. A guy here runs a 2 bay Trackman facility in a suburban strip mall. He charges 100/month unlimited with a year commitment. We buy a 200/month for our Dec-Mar 3 month commitment membership which gets us 25 hours/month with free guests. Dec-Mar is the soggy dormant Bermuda around here. Other months are unlimited. It's a good deal for us.
It's probably a good business opportunity for a place like Calgary with a lot longer off season. He's been doing it for 3 years now and it is unstaffed with 24 hour phone app access so not a lot of overhead after the initial investment.

GolfutureYYC (old RCGA) has two trackman sims you can book by the hour. $40/hour Monday to Thursday, $45/hour on Fri-Sun.
Modern Golf has trackmans but not sure if you can book hourly for sims.

Wow that's a good deal, especially for trackmans. It's $40-$50 per hour here in Calgary for any simulators. Most which are pretty poor tech like ScreenGolf.
