Arcane and Cyberpunk already broke the "video game adaptations are bad" curse. Best live action video game adaptation is definitely a lower bar to clear.

I just started it so will play it and watch the episodes at the same time (not exact same time, same general timeline in life yada yada).

I actually think that playing the game is probably not going to take much more time than watching the show, so really it's just a matter of which medium is of greater interest to you. I suggest you play it, personally, even if it's on story mode.

I am nearing the completion of the first game. The combination of this show and the PS5 remaster lead me to finally get into the franchise. The game has been great and I am definitely going to give the show a try.

I'm going to watch the show, but what haven't played either game. What are people's thoughts on playing the Last of Us 2 without playing the first one?

Don't. It's as direct continuation as you can get with a sequel, and the emotional hits that the 2nd game tries for will fall completely flat if you haven't played the first one. It'd be like watching Empire Strikes Back without seeing Star Wars first. Plus the first one is just a better game, especially the PS5 remake

Thanks for that. So I'll try the first one then. They have a remastered PS5 version it sounds like?

Last of Us Part 1 is more of a remake than a remaster. There is absolutely no reasonable argument for playing the second one first.

Are there online trophies in Last of Us Part II? I have no interest in multiplayer or coop gaming. That's the only knock I have against Part I.

Why do you care what "trophies" there are? Real question; I've never understood this.

I like getting the platinum trophy for each game I play. I have almost 30 platinums.
Also, multiplayer sucks in these kind of games.

OK, I just don't understand why anyone would care about getting platinum. I just can't relate to why that would matter.

thankfully there are not. And I agree with you, online trophies to get platinum are one of my biggest pet peeves in gaming.
btw the PS5 remake/remaster doesn't have online trophies either. Just the PS4 remaster back then.

Are we just forgetting that 'Resident Evil' exists and is a thing?

This is probably getting into the weeds, but trophies rank fairly high for me when selecting a game. Assuming they're done well, they often force me to play a different way that ends up being far more satisfying than just playing it the way I usually do.

Really, don't most video games take like 40-60 hours to complete? What is this show, like 8 x 1hr episodes? If I can finish the game in 8 hours I'd be much more likely to pick it up. I have a short attention span and am not a good gamer.

So playing video games as a grown ass adult is totally acceptable, but chasing a completion trophy crosses the line for you?
