My biggest issue with this team right now is I truly believe guys like Ruzicka, Pelletier, Zary (and Phillips but ive given up on Sutter giving him a real shot, he's too stubborn to change his mind) could provide a boost and some energy over guys like Zohorna, Ritchie, and Lucic if given more or some opportunity.
Flames have had an elite AHL team made up of players U-25 these last two seasons and refuse to give any of them a real look. Its frustrating as a fan.

Interesting as per the radio guys the Flames are only 4 points off last years pace.
I think what is most disappointing is a Sutter team unable to capitalize on opportunities. That has been the problem for years. Can’t hold leads. Can’t finish off teams. Can’t get wins off clearly inferior teams.
What’s the saying - never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity?

They are 6-2-2 in the last 10. They’ve been way better over the last month and a half. They are in a playoff spot and steadily improving.
Just thought I would point that out.

They also won 10 in a row in February to run away with the division.
Last year's team looked like one with average depth and I don't think anyone expected a 300 goal team.
This team had some expectations but you won't reach them with inconsistent play we have had and the rotation of guys like Lucic in the top 6

Short memories I guess, that old core had a great regular season last year but as recently as the year before totally choked and couldn't beat the Sens to get in the playoffs.
In Gaudreau's 8 seasons 5 playoff wins is the best they did...it's certainly possible this core does better than that.
Vezina Markstrom and no injuries last season is as big a factor as anything.
They blew a point last night for sure
6-2-2 in their last 10
People can be pissed if they want but comments like "this isn't a playoff team" and they were "dominated in HD chances" probably should be called out. This game didn't decide their playoff fate and they certainly were not dominated in HD chances.
Nobody is going to argue that they are finishing enough but to say they aren't getting the HD looks is wrong because they certainly are.
They have also been playing over .600 hockey since December, despite losing a point things seem to be going in the right direction

12 High dangerous chances in 20 some shots and 4 goals by the worst offensive team.
We had 12 in 47 shot attempts.
That's a pretty bad job especially against the worst team in the league.

And here I am saying they had a good game...
oh wait I didn't, nor did anyone else on here, or on the team, or in management.
They were not dominated in HD chances like a certain poster said though, it was a bad take.
Scoring Chances for 29-21 Flames
HD chances for 12-11 Flames
Natural Stat Trick...not my stats
Only winning the HD chances stat by one is not getting dominated no matter how you spin it...you should go back to telling people I am an Ex-NHLer I like that fabrication a lot better lol

Funny dude with a very definitive view of how the game is to be played, very skilled at snuffing offence in favour of defence every where he ends up. Like Tortorella I find it amazing that these guys somehow find a landing spot. With Sutter...when the Flames hired him I thought to myself "only the Flames would hire this guy, he has been sitting for a bit and no one else calls except for the Flames" I mean if he is this amazing coach then how come no one else wants him...Flames have a long history of this with GM's and Head Coaches...decent list of ex Flame employees that never found work at that level again, why? Cuz they suck at it. Coach of the Year? True and as mentioned a few times in my opinion he rode a hot goalie and a hot line to win it. Can't wait to see him gone.

But he's not getting an "honest" call-up unless one of the goalies get hurt. And really right now they don't even have to think about calling him up. The goaltending isn't an issue right now like it was earlier in the season.
When Wolf comes up full-time it will either be when the team is in rebuild mode and Markstrom is in the last year or two of his contract and is open to go to a team with a better chance to win; or if he steals the backup role from Vladar and they decide to move on from Vladar.

Half of Chicago's shots high danger.
A quarter of ours was high danger.
It's not good enough. Not against trash like Chicago sorry.
It's not that serious man we can disagree and still have some fun. At the of the day we both want the same thing but are looking at through different lenses. Agreeing on everything wouldn't make this fun.

NOBODY SAID THEY WERE GOOD LAST NIGHT
you are making things up to defend your bad take
The Flames were not dominated in high danger chances last night...they weren't, its not an opinion its a straight fact guy
Having more HD chances than the other team will NEVER be considered being dominated in HD chances...ever

I hope the Flames can go 11-0 in the next 10 with 30 high danger slot shots per game. With a xgf number at 17.3.

Not the issue. You would be better to acknowledge the shortcomings of this team
Boston is better than Anaheim, went in there and smoked them. Like a far better team should do
Chicago is vying for Bedard. Calgary is too good to be in the running for Bedard, but somehow bad enough for Chicago without Kane to embarrass them
Calgary has an unusual number of 1 goal games. And is horrible in OT
This isn’t an ‘almost every team’ situation we are observing. It is very much their own unique thing

I wish they scored more too but markstrom was bad.

If you look at the stats, sure (and Sutter agrees with you by his comments) but the actual 3 goals and the one where he got pulled were on the Defence IMO
