I watched field hockey for the first time a couple years ago when a friend’s high level kid played. In the penalty area (similar to soccer) it’s a penalty shot from the dot if a defending player stops the ball with anything but the stick. Even if it’s an accident. So you get attackers shooting at defenders’ legs to try and get a penalty shot.

This is essentially a lot of his play. He’s not trying to get by half the time - he’s trying to draw a cheap penalty.

Now...I'm no fancy 'Big City Hockey Coach' or nuthin' but it seems to me that if you have some players that play almost all the time and some other players that arent good enough to ever play that it would stand to reason that you'd make the nogoodniks practice more than the guys playing all the time?

Or...and hear me out here...make them practice together so the less good players can teach the No Good players?

If McDavid does end up demanding a trade at some point, it's going to look really bad on him. All the time he has had as captain, and he has never been the leader to bring a team together. Is he going to join a new team and take an A, or no letter on his chest? Anywhere that's looking for a cup shouldn't hand him a C based on his track record, despite his ego probably just expecting and demanding that he wear the C.

I would actually think less of him if he stays as it means he doesn't care about winning a cup. I can't fault any player that tries to get out of that black hole of no good.
