Is there a clear cut list of what the freedom caucus hardliners are demanding for McCarthy to provide concessions to them for? It's odd how Gym Jordan who is a founding member of that group is supporting him while the others are not.

It’s because Jordan will be head of the Justice committee if he does. McCarthy is so comprised every which way he has no path to victory. The only thing he could do is offer concessions to Democrats which may land him speaker, but would so savagely fracture the GOP it might almost be worth it for the Dems.

What I don’t get is why any or these promises or concessions even matter. Once the votes are in couldn’t get just go “yeah, no” and they couldn’t do anything but whine about it? It’s not like they haven’t lied before.

Wasn't Yoho just a few pages ago boasting about the "adults" taking over the House? Very adult-like to have your #### so poorly together that you can't even do something as basic as elect a speaker.

Conservatives, whether it is the UK or the US or anywhere else, have a hard time governing because of the adults requirement. Lack of adults often leads to chaos.

Hah, that makes a lot more sense. The clip didn't show him making the announcement.

Then again, I think WoW is one of those games that really captured a very wide age demographic of players, young and old. I bet Rep. Huffman totally has a WoW character.

Why is McCarthy so hell bent on being Speaker? What is the driving force behind that nomination? Is there not another Republican that can bridge the gap between the two factions on the right?

Entitlement. He moved into the Speaker's office already.

They need to switch to Survivor rules. Time for the fire making challenge.

A little bit of me would vote against him just for that alone. I mean the bigger better decision making part of me would win out, but still that small part would be like “yeah, #### you buddy”

so the only thing that's changed from yesterday is that the No Kevins have split the votes between Donalds and Hern (plus the pathetic Trump stunt that Gaetz pulled). And that's after all their internal discussions and McCarthy making more promises. Amazing.

can't be said often enough, what a bunch of clowns. You'v got to wonder what the next two years are going to be like, with these jokers trying to "govern" ... I mean, electing a leader is supposed to be the easy part. But I guess if you (re-)elect a bunch of laughing stocks to these positions, you've got to live with the consequences.

As someone who actively votes for divided government, I love it. This is the exact scenario I'd vote for.

What, do you want them to "do something"? And then cheer about it or complain about it based on whether or not the party you love is in the majority? Just let them waste time, get C-SPAN fame, and leave us alone.
