Their actions on the ice prove otherwise as they are all about cheating on the ice to accumulate points.

Maybe they think that if they gather up enough of each trophy, they can hit the NHL cash shop and trade them like actual currency and nobody's told them that it isn't a video game?

Bahahahaha, the fan base and media just don’t get it. Neither of them could give two rips about team accomplishments, it’s all about personal achievements and for Draisaitl his next contract. Neither of these players have led their teams anywhere in the past, will not happen in Edmonton.

Who challenges Warren Foegele on why he won’t stand over a fallen goalie once in a while, or intimidate a smaller opponent?
Why doesn’t somebody — anybody — drop everything and go after MacKenzie Weegar when he sticks a knee out on Connor McDavid in a game at Calgary, no less?
|
wtf lol
standing over fallen goalies and intimidating smaller players sounds like d-bag advice. isn't the old schoolyard quote "pick on someone your own size"?
wouldn't good team oriented advice be hit some players in your weight class and defend your fallen goalie?
and that second part is just plain myth, and I had to wrack my brain just to recall that little uproar they stirred months back about a knee that never happened
I'm just laughing to myself at how par for the course this is for January in no good land
you can track down almost to the week when each repeating issue will come to a head up there
when the players meeting fails next it will be the coach, just like it was in jan-feb last year with Tippett. book it

Don't you mean the DOICFM (Dept of Invented Calls for McDavid)?

I found it interesting in Spector's article that there was nothing said about missing leadership from McDavid. As an 8 year veteran and captain, shouldn't he be the voice that brings the team together?
He mentions that the same problems that have dogged every coach are back, and yet McDavid as the captain is the common point for all those teams that unraveled.

Bottom six wasn't as clear. Didn't do any line rushes.
Foegele-McLeod-Puljujarvi

Did do some drills together. But not a lock.

Not only do they not play their bottom 6, they don't even bother making them practice.
Love that.

it's a core part of the problem. McDavid is untouchable in their media because they want to make Edmonton feel as cushy as possible to entice him to re-sign. they're so deathly afraid of losing this player that they never should've been awarded that they'll skirt the myriad of issues that he brings to the team, and convince themselves that they don't exist, because look! points and pretty goals
they'll only jokingly touch on/suggest things he can improve when he's on the mic, and word it as a "group" issue to keep from poking the bear or making him feel personally targeted
at the same time, enabling his and leon's half-game approach and lack of leadership every year is a contributing part of what has led to the repeating pattern of the same ****, different year
their spineless glorified bloggers/pom pom wavers can pat themselves on the back for rolling over in favour of the country club culture that is now being maligned
it's all rather hilarious when you think about it

I think this is a certainty also. In fact I think I have a good idea where he will end up ha ha
Gotta think that Toronto would be a desired destination for him, if there was an inkling of a "back channel expression" of that, the Leafs would be more than happy to let Matthews walk.

what's even funnier is Spector thinks he is making a stand, in an obvious attempt to be lauded by the local faithful for speaking up on "team" issues, yet STILL fails to highlight the actual problem. he, like his numbnut colleagues, again resorts to picking on the depth guys that play 10-12 minutes a night, claiming that THEIR soft play or disinterest is the issue. Lol!
meanwhile the two players on for 28 minutes a night have 12000 combined points and are a +3 and +4 on the season
golly gee, I wonder why that is
some kind of toxic environment that you can be a depth grinder that gets benched for mcdavid's double shifts then gets thrown under the bus by the local scribes because the two guys running the country club's defensive games are non existent

Does anyone whine about “kneeing” more? It seems like everyone knees poor old Connor. Maybe, just maybe, he skates right into people who are bracing for a hit and he tries to evade at the last second. His leg always seems just as stuck out as the other guy’s.
