McDavid and their first? Singular? They need to offer more than one first.

$12.5 million cap hit as well. The team acquiring him would likely have to dump a lot of salary and lose depth. I would take Bedard on a 3 year entry level contract before taking peak McDavid and his cap hit.

I know Bedard hasn't proven anything in the NHL yet, but I would take that risk and bet on him.

That's what I was thinking as well. Cap hit aside, other teams know what McDavid can offer, getting a lot of personal points not so much team points. And he is damaged product in my eyes, not damaged as per injuries prone but damage as in abandonment of team games. I'm not sure he can be taught the team game at this point in his career. On the other hand, Bedard might not be skating like McDavid, or might not even score like McDavid. But he is a raw jade, which you can carve him into a gem. And you get him that 3 years entry level, team can surround him with a lot more talent with that cap space.

I know this isn’t serious but let’s pretend. What team right now would trade for McDavid? One that he would go to, has the cap, and could win Bedard?

Arizona? To play in front of 5000 people on similar loser team?
Chicago? Have to send Kane back I guess? But are you really trading Bedard for 3 years of McDavid in a rebuild?

He is stuck making this work. Until this runs out and he calls his shots. At that stage in Matthews is gone I see TO making and holding a nest for him.

So after this season Oilers have 3 more kicks at this. Then like the Matrix it begins again.

I think it's absolutely certain McDoofus will ask for a trade sooner than later. That's why they won't trade Drai.

It would have to be a team like Anaheim that already has a strong #1 goalie, McTavish, Zegras, Terry on the front end and Fowler, Drysdale, and Zellweger on the back end. They’d have to work the free agent market for some solid depth but would have plenty of cap for a couple years. Incredibly unlikely anyone would trade an 18 year old Bedard for a package that includes a 26.5 year old McDavid that would need Oiler stink fumigation.

The Oilers should push for it though, which is why it’s a bad idea for any other team that lands the #1 pick. You’d consider it though for a couple of minutes just due to, one guy you know what he is, and the other while showing high ceiling top 3 NHL player potential there’s still a risk something could go off the rails.

McDavid, Draisaitl, Edmonton and losing. Name a better combo.

I hope they both sign 8 year deals.

Can you imagine, after 19 years of contracts, Edmonton signs McDavid for a final 3 year 90 million dollar deal. Why? So he can overtake jagr in points or some stupid bull ####.

Meanwhile, he has 12 Art Ross trophies, 4 Hart trophies, 5 playoff series wins and a May timeshare in Maui that keeps getting used.

I think the toilet seat is down again…..

Players only meeting before practice
Spent time practicing 6 on 5
Reporters could only name top two lines because the bottom 6 didn’t do any line rushes

Haha what a tire fire

So the players only meeting was we are only practicing the top two lines today, the other ones don’t really matter. We also need to get better at 6-5 trying to tie the game.

That folks is leadership

I'm confused, is the meeting for players on top 2 lines only?

The other two have to sit in the hallway and can listen through the door.

I absolutely love that they can’t identify the problem yet.

Yeah the Whitney thing is mostly schtik as part of his personal branding, and Bissonette has gotten in on the action too as a foil.

Whitney didn’t have too many fond things to say about his time in Edmonton.

Love the fair and impartial Sportsnet analyst Spector jumping off the deep end in his usual running hot and cold. Next week he’ll be lauding the same group, talking about how many playoff rounds the Oilers have in them.

New propaganda rag out from Specter is pretty good…if you’re a Flames fan.
Lamenting about how much they miss the leadership of Russell, Smith, and Keith is beautifully remincent of an ex girlfriend who cheated on you but you’re still in love with her.

Can’t wait for them to lose again tomorrow. Players only won’t help when you’re telling the darlings they can’t play as much and the nobodies deserve more ice.

A players only meeting for the top 2 lines? Isn't that just a regular game for the Oilers?

Here’s the link:

Is anybody checking on Spector lately?!? Seems to have taken a huge dose of truth serum—so much so, he’s backdating it…

Surely, it’s off to the Gulag soon enough, no?

McDavid no longer leading the league in assists. He's tied with a defenseman. No good.
