A Friday night out at Britain's highest pub turned into a weekend-long lock-in when snow carpeted the Yorkshire Dales in late November. And, over the course of three very strange days, stranded guests at the Tan Hill Inn found themselves at the centre of the world media's lens.
"Sixty-one turned up and 61 stayed," is how the manager of Britain's highest pub remembers one Friday night in November.
Storm Arwen was bringing high winds and snow to the UK, but at the Tan Hill Inn, high in the Yorkshire Dales, people were preparing to enjoy music from an Oasis tribute band.
Although no plan is perfect, Oasis tribute band........yuck

As someone who photographs abandoned things, Russia is pretty much the go-to place for that stuff. I've never been but I would love to someday when things stabilize (hopefully). There are some amazing things there to find and photograph.

I wouldn't hold my breath if I was you.

It's funny how quickly some things can change. I was in Russia within 10 years of the fall of the iron curtain. 10 years before that, nobody saw the collapse of the Soviet Union. I think things could return to a somewhat normal state IF not only Putin dies, but his system of cronyism and a mafia-led government collapses.

Those people seemed more sensible than the ones treating their vehicles to a slip’n’slide.
How do you even form a tribute band based on just a few hit songs? “Play us ‘Wonderwall’ again!”.
They had seven consecutive #1 albums in UK spanning 14 years and sold 70 million albums worldwide.
Sure, they also completely sucked ass from start to finish if you ask me, but they're massively successful and popular, and were (unfortunately) massively influential. What can you do, fans of classic rock have terrible taste. I mean you can still find people who will seriously tell you that something like Guns'n'Roses "totally rules".
