To be fair, you’re kind of the one who brought it up and invented this straw person that loves -30 and hates +30. A few of us are doing our best to fill in roles as best we can so you and a few others have someone to talk to on these cold and lonely days, but you make it difficult with stuff like this:

How can you be more interested in refuting an idea that nobody, to my knowledge, has brought forward? You’re literally asking for things to refute. At most people have said “I can dress for -30 easier than +30”, which can be true, but honestly who has even come close to arguing that you’re better off standing buck ass naked in -30 than +30? Nobody!
That’s why this conversation is so great. Btimbit can say “Glad there was no wind today” and one of y’all come out with a “OH YEAH CLETUS? You LIKE this weather? HOW ABOUT YOUR PARENTS, FROZEN TO DEATH, IMAGINE THAT AND THEN THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK!”
It’s amazing and fun but make no mistake, most people are just humouring the whacky stuff.

I really feel like you don't like +30 like you think you do. Because you do realize there are some days where it's just, like, 24 all day long, right? You can have that and not have that four hours of misery when it's too hot.

I don't find 30 to be miserable though. It's great beer/kayak/canoe/tubing weather. I just prefer not to hike or run at that temp if I can avoid it.
Edit: also, not in Calgary. This year was a bit rare on the 20-25 high days. We seemed to skip most of spring and most of fall. 52 days of +30 or above though.

Overnight lows of 15 or higher are pretty miserable in between multiple days around +30.
Keeps the house cookin 20-24 hours per day.

I must have said or done something at some point to piss him off, he's blown up at me over nothing more than once. Oh well, can't win 'em all.
I love the road kill comment though, he's used that before and I love that it's an insult to him. I actually know one of the girls that does that, we used to work together years and years ago when I was at the city before she transferred to roads and I moved to what I do now. She's a great person and she enjoys it, so it's not this major dig like he thinks it is

My bathroom window just developed a small crack, that doesn't happen in +30 weather. As an aside, is it possible to fix a crack in a double pane window (inside pane)? Or will I need to get the whole thing replaced?

Besides Bigtime's point, it is apparent demand keeps increasing year after year as population grows. Despite efforts to reduce individual usage the overall demand is continuing to rise and is bumping up against capacity.
I've been guilty this week. Normally the block heater is on a timer, heat is turned down over the day etc. but this week we've had some extenuating circumstances at the house that have precluded doing any of these things.

They appear to have Keephills #3 up and running again. Slowly increasing MW output.

We had to get the whole thing replaced. Depending when your house was built, the window manufacturer could have your plans and window dimensions on file. That’s what happened with ours (house is ~11 years old). Told them the address, and they confirmed the window on the plan, then showed up with the replacement and were done in a couple hours. No visit to measure, etc.

+30 is hot but nice providing you aren't stuck in the sun all the time. It is difficult for physical activities especially for the average Calgarian that's not used to the heat. My brother and I went out to play tennis in one of those days when it was about +32 this summer and I was pretty gassed after 30 minutes.

Does this mean it’s cool to have the dishwasher, washer, dryer, oven, and furnace rolling at the same time now? As long as block heater is unplugged?

Why would you need the block heater plugged in if the car is running?
You have to keep everything moving in this temperature, the second anything stops it'll freeze up!

The Milner plant fire in Grande Cache isn't helping either. That's 200 MW right there that is off line. Last release I read said it wouldn't be up and running before July 2023.
