It’s mind blowing because I’ve watched 100 of those lateral plays and never have I seen the other team pick the ball off and run it back for 6. The first time it happens, that team actually wins the game because of it.
I'm still a bit annoyed the Saints blew that game vs. Tampa. We could have 4 teams all guaranteed to finish with losing records with 3 games left.
Giants gut that out in the end, but sure looked like PI on Samuel at the end. That was Gibbs and Parcells era officiating to let that go.
Conspiracy theorists will point to the McLauren penalty to move the ball to the 6, than letting that go on 4th down. League trying to keep Snyder and the Commanders out...

The Cardinals’ trip to Mexico City was marred by the sudden and abrupt termination of offensive line coach/run game coordinator Sean Kugler. The firing happened after Kugler had allegedly groped a woman.
It all happened so quickly, that the question of whether Kugler did or didn’t actually do it was never explored. We now know that Kugler claims he didn’t do it.
McMurphy then finished the thought (possibly), by raising the question of whether Kugler was mistaken for G.M. Steve Keim.
Doug Samuels of FootballScoop.com took things a step farther, in an article that points out Keim’s current leave of absence began the same day Kugler filed his arbitration claim.
This story has taken a bizarre turn as it sounds like it was the Steve Keim the GM that groped the woman hence his leave of absense. Bad look for that organization.
Didn't they host a Christmas night game last year too? After that 6-0 start last year they have been a train wreck. Maybe it's punishment for their disrespect of Jesus Birthday....
Who predicted at the start of the year that the Jets and Jaguars Thursday game this week would feature better teams than the three Christmas day games would. Maybe the Dolphins and Packers is a on par...but I can pay attention to the family dinner this year rather than watch the Broncos and Rams followed by the Bucs and Cardinals

The Following User Says Thank You to Sylvanfan For This Useful Post:
Almost as bad losing was the Saints and Jags in 2003 when the Saints did 4 laterals at the end of regulation to get the TD…and then John Carney missed the chip shot XP so they still lost.
That eliminated them from playoff contention too. I actually watched that entire game EXCEPT for the end: Jags got a 1st down at the 2 minute warning and I calculated poorly & thought that clinched it, so I did a frustrated beer run before the afternoon games started. Ohhh did my buddies ever have a story for me when I got back...my poor math abilities saved me from a heart attack.
I don’t know who the hell this Trevis Gipson scrub is but I hope a pilot loses control of his airplane, safely ejects, and the uncontrolled airplane hits Trevis’ house while only he is in it.

Detroit controls their own destiny if a fairly likely scenario happens this upcoming week.
DET -2.5 over CAR
SF -7 over WSH
KC -9.5 over SEA
It would be cool if Detroit finally made the playoffs; without googling, I honestly can't recall the Lions ever being good? Maybe one year with Stafford iirc..

They’ve always been ass. They are one of four franchises that have never even been to a Super Bowl along with the Browns, Jags, and Texans. At least the Texans and Jags have the excuse of being relatively recent franchises.
Edit: Browns 2.0 I guess have the newer franchise excuse as well. The Lions are the real factory of sadness
