I mean I can think of a fairly massive difference between the Patriots and that group. But it's still a play that will never make sense. At least when the group you mention lose it's on a normal play that goes spectacularly wrong in the most ridiculous way possible. This is just.....what?

Well not to defend Myers, but it starts with Stevenson's lateral. Does he think they can score a TD with laterals from 40 yards out? And that effort by Mac Jones was...I mean maybe just take the tripping penalty and hope they miss the FG? Man that is easily top 10 most hilarious losses ever.

It can't be all Myers though, if Stevenson just goes down it's OT. Myers makes the stupidest part of that move, but what is Stevenson thinking to start with? Glad they thought whatever they thought cause they gave us all a hearty laugh.

Sure but it's the last play they are 60 yards from their end zone and he flips it back 3-4 yards. Maybe he breaks a tackle but no biggie.

Myers throws a 40 yard lob against the grain back to his QB on his 40 yard line!

But why take any risk at all? Going down means 100% OT, once you start the laterals it becomes a non-zero possibility disaster strikes. Even if you want to say it's a 0.001% chance it ends the way it did, it's probably about the same % they get a TD. It would be the worst if somehow that was the designed call to do a lateral play, why even chance it? Just running it straight ahead, hey maybe you get a facemask or something. But a lateral play is asking for what we got, and we're all grateful they did.

Well why did they run the play at all? They should have just kneeled.

Almost as bad losing was the Saints and Jags in 2003 when the Saints did 4 laterals at the end of regulation to get the TD…and then John Carney missed the chip shot XP so they still lost.
