Dube is beginning to change my tune on him. 2 points less than huberdeau and making things happen in a more prominent roster spot

I had really thought earlier on that he plateaud in his development

didn't expect a convincing win like that after their play of late

seems like when I'm busy with other things they play much better. I will take more breaks in the coming games and see if it holds up! its a sacrifice I am willing to make

The Oilers certainly don't, but that's not because they lost to the Ducks.
Any team can beat any other team any time in this league

But if you need the points and you can’t beat the Ducks, you are not very good

I was back from Vacation…so should be fine from here on out. Weirdly enough over the last few years the Flames never do well when I’m on vacation.

18-19: Was on vacation for the first couple games of Flames - Avs.

19-20: Was on vacation when the news of all the Bill Peters stuff broke.

21-22: Was on vacation for most of Dallas series and start of Edmonton series.

22-23: Was on vacation from Dec 2-17 and missed a lot of the fun of these poor performances the last two weeks.

I’ll try not to plan any vacations during the Playoff time period anymore.

first couple games of the Flames Avs series before it went to denver were ok for the Flames

the Dallas series and first game and a half of the BOA were good as well

in some cases it appears **** hits the fan right when you return from vacation, which I am hoping is not the case here

that is kinda the point...you aren't going to beat bad teams every game no matter who you are

You need to win the majority and then play around .500 against good teams. Saying "if you lose to the Ducks you don't deserve playoffs" is dumb in a league with this much parity.

Of course its natural to consider your opponent and how they happen to be playing at the time.

But I look a lot more at our own game, and always assume that the other team will bring it (with good goaltending etc).

If you consider our losses this season, to me its been a lot more about our own crappy play and mistakes than anything the other teams are doing.

I think what we miss the most about Tkachuk and probably why slot chances are down is he usually camped around the net PP or 5v5, he got into the garbage areas and was good at tipping shots and cleaning up the rebounds or creating them himself.

We showed some progress getting into the slot yesterday, just need more guys camping around that area and less on the boards.

The Avs lost to the Coyotes three times last season... en route to a Stanley Cup.

I think people are making too much of the opponent. The NHL is a league where anything can happen and there is no easy 2 points. You still have to work and play hard to win in this league no matter who the opponent is. What is important is that you are in the playoffs conversation once spring roles around. I think just as last year, how this team is viewed or judged will depend on how they do in April and beyond. It doesn't really matter how they get there, they just need to be there and do better than last year.

Absolutely.

Also, the game is played with a weirdly shaped rubber thing, which people bang around with a stick, while sliding around on ice, with metal blades strapped to their feet. So maybe there is just a tiny bit of randomness and luck involved in any given game.

Just skimmed the the GT from last night, so now I get where the clock cleaning references came from in the PGT.

Suggesting the Sharks cleaned the Flames' clocks in the 2nd period has to be one of the hottest takes of the season. Like holy hell that was a bad take.

dumb..lol considering your 1000 posts about strength of schedule you should fall in line.

That wasn't a NHL team we played last night did you even watch? That was no parity and there is no parity with the Ducks either.

and yes we'll still make the playoffs if we don't sweep the Sharks or Ducks.

Almost all our teams in our division are garbage and on paper we should beat every one of them every night. Including Vegas.

Respectfully they are what 14-18? And going into the game were a 13-18 team facing a 10-22 team. They finally got back to "true" .500 and followed it up by dropping 5 in a row and looking as bad as ever in the process. They have to earn back fan excitement I think with not just a streak but a total change of character, an upward trajectory of lots of things including save percentage, scoring, defensive play, special teams.

I just realized we play the Sharks twice in a row in their barn. How weird is that? Last time I remember that happening was in LA but it was during the lockout so made for a screwy schedule in Iginla’s last year. I remember because I was at the first LA game and it was one of the last time I saw Iginla live as a Flame, and one of his last games as a Flame.

Strange to have 2 back to back against the same team isn’t it? Especially with a full 82 game schedule?

Yeah, I can't remember it ever happening in a normal (non-lockout/non-COVID) regular season.

Yes, strange. But I mean MLB has 4 games vs the same team in the same city, so why not 2 in the NHL, not saying all the time but not a bad idea IMO, players are already there so if teams/nhl want to save money & players want to travel less, why not?

& animosity from the first game can be a good thing for the 2nd game.
