Lol cause that one appearance you make a year is a surefire deterrent for the other 200+ days in the year where your smoking hot wife's coworkers are with her in your absence

If that really is curve's m.o., then I suppose you should consider yourselves warned. There's no shame on him from here.

Your mind goes to the weirdest places.
If your spouse’s co-workers didn’t already know that they are in a relationship, it’s probably a bad sign for you.
Also, the main deterrent isn’t going to be a spouse in attendance, it will be the HR nightmares.

If there is food provided at a work function, we will both be there. Food is expensive.

What if someone from HR is the one pulling the shenanigans?

Yeah honestly corporate Christmas parties are great. My partner could work with the most annoying people imaginable and you’ll still find me there drinking and eating (and drinking) to my heart’s content.

So if I gotta wear a tie and make some ####ty banter for a couple hours to people I likely won't see again until the next work party, then that's the cost.
Now, hanging out with other parents because our kids picked the same extra-curricular activity, that's a whole different story.

You had me until there. My dignity is not for sale. I'm not wearing a noose to keep my wife employed.

My partner and I have both agreed that any screwing around at the office needs to be for strategic career advancement. Just picking up randos at the company Xmas party is sleazy.

I don't even go to my own work's Xmas party usually. They just aren't fun. And there is the potential for drama... even if you're not involved in it, did you witness it? Then you're involved... if I go I leave as soon as reasonably possible before anything gets too weird.

I'm forever banned from my wife's work Christmas parties due to a botched magician's table cloth pull one year.

Botched? Nah, you made a way better punchline than if you pulled it off.

Our Christmas parties consist of everyone on the floor drinking and eating till you want to go home. No spouses allowed.
Some people leave at noon. Some leave at midnight.

I choose to believe that you were involved in some sort of time travel accident in the 1950's and are struggling to adapt to life in the 21st century. Your posts make so much more sense in that context

It sounds kind of reminiscent of story time at the library.
