I can't believe Argentina only has 35% possession and Croatia 53%

Dunno about farewell to Modric - would think that he would play in the 3rd place game for a medal?

It was a good run. Croatia should be proud.
That was a filthy goal.

Awesome to see this is what Brazil couldn't do finish in close.
Playing that should not be rewarded to a 2nd World Cup final. Glad they got punted.

Croatia's problem all tournament really: excellent in midfield, maybe the best in the tournament, but just nobody threatening in the front three. Outside the Canada game where Herdman was tactically naive they struggled to create against everyone else they played.

GG Argentina.
Messi unreal today. Too bad he didn’t stay in retirement
Croatia rues not having that go to striker as I think they played great for long stretches.

Imagine this current team with someone like Davor Šuker.
I am not sure if there is another country that punches above it's weight in soccer as much as Croatia.

the only other comparison would be Uruguay. Always fighting for their lives sandwiched between Brazil and Argentina.

Another fantastic run by Croatia, my Dad sounded very proud post game which always makes the loss easier. Croatia did well in all aspects of the field except attack. The lack of a quality striker really hurt. Onward and upward to the 3rd place game

You know, I think over the course of this tournament we've seen a shift, at least at the National Team level, away from the False 9 and back to the big target man.
Without that big striker up front teams looked a little more aimless, its a little more difficult to hold the ball up in the attacking zone and break down defending lines and keeping teams honest, but its worked well for some teams, it also provides something of a more rigid structure.
Holland changed completely with the introduction of Weghorst, Germany was much better when they introduced Fullkrug and France has been great with Giroud up top and Brazil with Richarlison.
Imagine Croatia with Mandzukic up top, sure he's 36 now but he'd be someone to aim at and he's always money for Croatia, he presents a target and he usually poaches goals.
It'll be interesting to see how that develops over time especially going into the Euros.

My dad and aunt were born in Delnice, I speak a bit of Croatian and could pursue citizenship because of my family's background.

I dont really see any benefit or reason for the Qataris to engage in foul play. To what end? For what gain?
The Qatari regime might be crazy to our Western perspective, but everything I've seen, read or learned about them indicates that they are largely 'Goal Oriented' crazy. This doesnt seem like it would accomplish anything to their benefit.

He made his choice. Besides, he's been tainted forever with the stain of United.
He was teetering on the edge of madness....and then United came along and pushed Zlatan over the brink. Just like they did to Pogba. Just like they did to Ronaldo.

Some people should maybe question themselves as to why they immediately jumped to conspiracy theory nonsense rather than giving the situation some rational thought.
