I can just see Rachel with a huge office, staffed by many people sifting through every word that Smith has spoken in public, and gradually feeding it out to the public in little bits at a time. While all the people working for the government, and those who refuse to work, lap it up, and rejoice whenever Smith stumbles trying do what she thinks is best for the province.
No one can imagine how much guts it takes to do what she is trying to do, while competing against one of the most integrated political parties in Canada.
I hate the thought of Jagmeet Singh, behind the scenes, having any influence whatsoever in what we do in Alberta, as it relates to oil and gas industry.

I'm NDP for life in a lot of ways. They're pro labour. But Singh is missing the boat on oil and gas. Won't disagree with you there.

Rachel, laughing maniacally as she instructs her henchmen to perform the evil deed of letting Smith’s previous comments that were already available online continue to be available online, enters her cave and picks up the phone. “Jagmeet? It is done, they are weak, our time is now!” On the other end, Jagmeet, cloaked in a dark robe laughs as Trudeau, just out of view, laughs with him. FINALLY, Alberta will be THEIRS for the taking.
But not if she can help it. Who is she? Glad you asked. Her name is Danielle. Her friends call her Dani. And sure, she’s just one woman, but she’s one woman fighting the fight of 1000 men. She’s put her life on the line for the greater nation of Alberta, the one true home of the Queen of Canada. Is she smart? God know, she barely knows how anything works, but she’s got guts. And kids? You can’t teach GUTS in school. Danielle rises from her desk, having just finished doodling all over the back of some random document someone sent her, and enters the room full of reporters. She stands defiant in front of the mainstream media, the jackals and snakes trying to take her down, and she steps up to the podium.
With just a few words, she lets Alberta know she will protect them, forever and always.
“Alberta… I… have a dream…”
A single tear rolls down flamesfever’s face, then the rest of the audience, then the entire province. She doesn’t have to finish, we know her dream. We know she’ll win. We know truth. We know the evil socialists will never kill the one thing that makes Alberta who we are: oil and gas OUR SPIRIT!

I could get behind a lot more of the NDP policies if they were even remotely practical about how they plan on paying for it.
"Tax the Rich" sounds great, but thats just a buzzword, thats not a plan.
And at some point, especially now with inflation and interest rates rising just 'borrowing' the money is going to create a ballooning debt-service problem that is going to come home to roost at some point.
I'm all for Public services, they are an important element to the fabric of our society and country but we have to have a realistic fiscal framework in order to make it sustainable.
Thats all I really ask. Because at the end of the day its not the erosion of services that we have to worry about, if you make a system fiscally untenable then its not erosion you need to worry about, its complete systemic collapse.

Is this how Smith supporters actually think? No one is combing anything, her words are out there every day. And they are just as bad as the person speaking them.
As for the guts bit, who cares? She talked herself into the position, her "guts" have nothing to do with it. I don't have to respect someone who makes horrible decisions for our province, just because she is "brave" enough to force her way into the job. And to frame it as her taken on the big mean mechanizations of the NDP like she is some sort of underdog? Get real.
The delusions are incredible.

So are you suggesting more taxes, or fewer services?
If we go back to the NDP, I predict a number of things will happen:
1. Corporate and personal taxes will increase
2. The number of people working for the government will increase
3. Government handouts will be the norm.
4. Our provincial debt will balloon, hopefully not as bad as Ray managed to do in Ontario
5. Our provincial government will be too cozy with the Federal Government, and refrain for standing up for our rights as a province.
6. Foreign investment will continue to lag
7. Our P & NG reserves and production will drop, and the price of gas at the pump will increase dramatically
8. Our hunters will have fewer guns, but the crooks will still be well armed
9. Our province and the residents will be worse off five years from now
Why do you continue to believe the myth that conservatives are better for the economy? Kenny wasted 1.3 BILLION on a non-existent pipeline, wasted millions per year on a "war room" that has accomplished nothing, and now Smith is throwing out Danny Bucks hoping to buy votes instead of using that money where it could actually do some good. Plus she has the largest provincial cabinet in Alberta's history, so shouldn't that piss you off considering point #2? I wonder how much money we're wasting on salary for all of those extra appointments

Quebec and the maritimes could produce lots of fracked gas...if they had the Alberta spirit. But they don’t, they lazily handwave about enviro concerns and let it sit there while importing gas from the states instead. Our oil and gas isn’t like the Middle East there was a lot of innovation and investment into making it work at scale, nowhere else in the world can produce oil like we do. Good thing the oil sands weren’t out east or they’d be sitting there uselessly deriving zero value and we’d all be much poorer.

And a day later Singh is threatening to pull support if the Liberals don't step up and do something about our healthcare crisis:
Quote:
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says his party is prepared to withdraw from the supply and confidence agreement he signed with the Liberals if there is no federal action to address the health-care crisis.
If we don't see action on health care, we absolutely reserve the right to withdraw our support," Singh said at a press conference Monday.
"This is at the level of seriousness that we could make that serious consideration. We need to see action."
Singh said he's particularly concerned about the "escalating" problems in children's hospitals across the country. He has requested an emergency debate in the House of Commons as hospitals deal with an influx of sick kids.
Singh said the conditions imposed in the supply and confidence agreement on health care are deliberately "flexible," but the NDP leader added he's not seeing urgency from the government.
"This is not just about health-care transfers. This is about an immediate crisis that requires immediate action and a prime minister to step up and show that leadership."
I agree. So why TF did the ucp lower corporate tax rates? It has hurt us all. Hopefully the ndp increases them on day one.
Here's something I don't understand. Where did that $1.3 billion for KXL go, exactly? That's a lot of fataing money.
Because thats what people who donated to their party and voted them in wanted them to do.
Theres lots of BS reasons, people who live, breathe and operate within Government dont see this as real, actual money, to them its a line-item in a ledger book.
I'm not going to advocate that Governments should be run as businesses, that is not a theory that I hold to, Governments and Businesses are two entities whose goals are inherently divergent.
That being said, I also do not hold to the theory that Governments should be 100% completely divorced from real-world economic realities. They have different opportunities and strategies available to them to accomplish their respective goals.
Because that line of thinking where the money doesnt matter and the rules are made up is what gets societies to the brink of systemic collapse which they then just shrug off on to the next generations by instituting slap-dash temporary solutions and kicking the can down the road.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Now show the urban polling in contrast to the rural.
It also doesn't take into consideration strategic voting by riding or poor/popular candidates.
I know lots of people here that vote NDP federally. They aren't NDP supporters, really they'd be Liberal but either don't like Trudeau or the local MP, don't support the CPC so that leave the NDP.
Throw in the polarization of politics and the centre-left vote splits, where the right vote is mostly CPC.
I'm sure there's lots of ridings like those by me that Liberal win but would win by a landslide with a different candidate and/or leader.
