Rashford and Sterling made sense because of the success Saka was having getting in behind. Far more direct than Grealish in that aspect.
Instead of Mount. I'm presuming rationale was to keep up protection for Walker rather than going for it.
And Sterling made no sense given Saka had them panicking every time he got the ball.
But ..... Let's not discuss this too much.

I think Maguire was our best CB, and I’m no Garreth nor Harry apologist. Same scenario for Pickford, but he can’t be faulted for any goals.
Henderson.. Saka lack of final product.
I’d take Dyche.
Maguire's issue is he limits how you can play
You cant press unless it's a back 3 with walker, because otherwise maguire just gets beat everytime ball is turned over and pace runs at or by him
For what he was he did his job outside that giroud header, but for the team to push on it needs to move past him
The issue is who plays besides him, dier is a similar issue in a back 4, white quit half way thru the tournament. We used to be spoiled for choice, for a time we had 4 legitimately world class centerbacks in Rio, terry, king, and campbell. Now I'd kill for 1

Not taking Tomori was pretty odd, maybe he can be one of those guys in the next cycle. But yeah as much as England look great in midfield and attacking, they have a clear issue for the next couple years that needs solving.

Ya, I hope for euro qualifying he includes tomori early, I have my doubts
He doesnt seem to look outside England, even last year when Sancho was in form at dortmund he barely played, Bellingham basically had to become undeniable to become a regular starter
Unless Milan go deep in the champions league and the press start to talk him up more, I have my doubts he gets the call
Not saying hes the perfect cb either, but he and stones together are both quick enough and can play the ball enough the team isnt limited
White should be an option as well, whatever happened between him and the backroom staff should be smoothed over I hope
Makes me feel a little better about Canada's exit - two of that group are in the semis...so that was the toughest group in the qualifying it appears. Or at least two of the four teams that were hitting their form
It appears this way in hind sight, but before the tournament started, no one thought Canada was in a bad position. Morocco was seen as beatable and Belgium was seen as a team on the decline, and Canada as a team on the rise. Many people figured Canada stood a good chance to get through in that group relative to other groups. I will say that Canada deserved better, especially against Belgium.

Agreed. There was a result there to be had.
Granted Croatia woodshedded us like redheaded stepchildren and Morocco just did what Morocco do.
In fairness, Morocco was a complete wildcard. Switched managers, changed players, swapped styles. I fully acknowledge not giving them the credit they deserve, but now that we can see what they can do?
Nobody sane wants to play Morocco.

Gotta feel for Kane missing the penalty. Saka and Henderson combined beautifully down the right and we’re causing the French all sorts of problems. Taking Saka off seemed odd
Needed to get a sub on during that period where England was dominating like y’all have said. Should’ve been for Foden and get more speed down that side.
Now we get Mbappe vs Hakimi and that’ll be all kinds of fun!
