I'm not sure where it came from here but it's not accurate.
Thanks for that. I heard Marek say it on one of his shows last week, but am now thinking that I must have misheard what he said. I think my mind and poor memory also returned to the 16-17 Blue Jackets, who nearly broke a winning-streak record, but then went on also to just squeak in at the end.
I feel the need to issue a formal apology to the entire community for my wrongness about this. I knew it was shocking when it happens, but had no idea it would affect people so deeply. Sorry, everyone.

It's interesting because of the 14 teams with win streaks that long, there are only 2 that made the finals with 1 of them winning the cup.
It's a small sample size but it seems like a long winning streak like that makes a team no more likely to win the cup than any other playoff team.
I think more than anything it confirms the importance of timing. The team that wins the Stanley Cup is the one that goes on a run and is playing their best hockey in May, not in November.

This post by setback sums it up best. Flyers in 2017, Sabres in 2019 had 10 games or more winning streaks and missed the playoffs. 35 other teams with that streak did make the playoffs.
Yes there's two examples, but your chances of missing the playoffs with a 10 game winning streak is miniscule. Plus they're underlying stats suggests they are playing extremely well whether they're winning or not, which suggests they are for real.
you really are asking for it
easiest schedule in the league...they have been good but will come back to earth a bit with a more balanced schedule.

That only happens when someone makes a dumb claim, then doubles and triples down on it. Being wrong is just part of life, and most of us possess the self-awareness to see when it happens and make corrections as a result. "Virtual suplexes" happens to those who don't.

You made a dumb claim without any evidence, and got body slammed, suplexed, whatever you want to call it.
