Monahan is looking great for the Habs. If they trade him at the deadline, I hope it's to a legit contender.
Both Monahan and Tkachuk have their first games back at the Dome next week. I wonder what the fan receptions will be.

Seriously man, its absolutely bonkers how many times you've uttered those words this season.

Just pointing out the reality of things...people like to pretend its not a factor. If you gamble on things like point totals it's a massive factor. Easier to score on bad teams...duh

It’s better to NOT score points in losses!

This sounds interesting, perhaps worth a closer look.
Do you have a source or the data with the details?

We won 10 in a row last year and won the division.
Colorado had a streak of 10 in a row and 9 in a row and won the cup.
We won 10 in a row the year with Gully and made the playoffs probably was the only reason we even made the playoffs to begin with.

I'm not sure where it came from here but it's not accurate.
Here are occasions since 1980 where a team won 12 or more games in a row.
92-93 Penguins: 17 - made playoffs
16-17 Blue Jackets: 16 - made playoffs
81-82 Islanders: 15 - won cup
12-13 Pengiuns: 15 - made playoffs
09-10 Capitals: 14 - Made Playoffs
85-86 Flyers: 13 - Made Playoffs
00-01 Devils: 13 - Made Finals
21-22 Panthers: 13 - Made Playoffs
98-99 Avalanche: 12 - Made Playoffs
10-11 Pengiuns: 12 - Made Playoffs
13-14 Bruins: 12 - Made Playoffs
15-16 Panthers: 12 - Made Playoffs
15-16 Blackhawks: 12 - Made Playoffs
16-17 Wild: 12 - Made Playoffs.
Literally every single one made the playoffs.

I have to imagine a team going on a 24+ point run would have to go on nearly an equally long losing streak to miss the playoffs. They could play .500 the rest of the season and likely make the playoffs.

Here's a list of every NHL win streak of at least 10 games: https://records.nhl.com/records/team...eak-one-season
By my count, there are 37 teams with 10+ game winning streaks since the year 2000 and only 2 missed the playoffs (Flyers in 2017 and Sabres in 2019). There are way more Stanley Cup and President's Trophy winners than teams that missed the playoffs.

13 - hell no.
12 - yes.
11- hell no.
They have to have just the right streak.

It is likely that tc really meant to say that such teams “pretty much” miss the playoffs which I then believe would allow for invocation of the nuance clause.

Didn't the Sabres have a massive winning streak and miss the playoffs by like 20 points? Islanders?
I bet the Devil's make it but they aren't a contender yet IMO

3 of the last 4 Cup winners each had a 10+ game winning streak. In fact, the Lightning had streaks of 10 and 11 games in 2019-20.

This post by setback sums it up best. Flyers in 2017, Sabres in 2019 had 10 games or more winning streaks and missed the playoffs. 35 other teams with that streak did make the playoffs.
Yes there's two examples, but your chances of missing the playoffs with a 10 game winning streak is miniscule. Plus they're underlying stats suggests they are playing extremely well whether they're winning or not, which suggests they are for real.

It's interesting because of the 14 teams with win streaks that long, there are only 2 that made the finals with 1 of them winning the cup.
It's a small sample size but it seems like a long winning streak like that makes a team no more likely to win the cup than any other playoff team.
