Realizing that he'll never have Lindholm as a line mate again.

Poor loser. Nope don't feel sorry for him.
What do you think would happen if you played for a tier 3 team with no depth. lol

Johnny no points in his debut. Ha. Ha.
Monahan the Great with a goal and great two-way game. Forever a Flame.

A poster here who has connections to the Gaudreaus has said recently that this was not the case, and that she actually very much enjoyed Calgary.

No points, but he threw 8 big hits, had a fight, and played a key role on the penalty kill.
Ok, that happened either.

Gaudreau is going to mail it in now. I hope Blue Jacket fans like watching coasting because without a hard line coach, that's what he does.

I thought Boomers story made quite a bit of sense.

Yeah. Lock it down. We can talk Gaudreau in regular nhl threads. Or not talk about him, more likely.

Let's not laugh, you just know we will lose our season opener tonight.
I'll save my laughing for the end of the season...and next season...and the season after that.

Regardless of the reasoning, it had to be a pretty tough position for Gaudreau. It sucks it went the way it did but what's done is done. He's still a fantastic player and can be a difference maker on any team he plays for. He just can't be the "main" piece, especially when it comes to the playoffs IMO
It'll be interesting to see how his season goes.

Haven't seen this thread this month, so i figured i would bump it with this from Emily Kaplan. Says he wouldn't change his decision, but also adds he doesn't know if he would do free agency again.
Quote:
Because the process to find his new home wasn't easy.
"Honestly if I had to do free agency again, I don't know if I would've done it," he said. "The fan base in the city you're in wants you back, that's hard on you as well. It was a pretty rough two-to three months there."
He knows that people will always talk, but there was one narrative that didn't sit well.
"People thought I was trying to chase money but that's the farthest from the truth," he said. "It was about what was best for me and my family and my wife and her family. I love the city here in Columbus, I love the team here, I'm really excited to be here. Even if it wasn't the start we wanted, I wouldn't change my decision for the world."

The guy’s entitled to do what he wants. He earned his way to free agency. Everyone will turn the page eventually.

He's a dope for not making up his mind sooner. People go to FA all the time without this much fanfare.
If you want to test the market, your agent leaks that info beforehand so teams can prepare, then you go test the market.
If you don't want to leave, then sign the best deal you can with your team.
His own indecisiveness about staying or leaving was the cause of his stress (and caused him to lose money).
