The other part about Lucic that goes often quietly unnoticed is he actually has pretty good passing ability. Can get that outlet pass usually to breaking out forwards or in both zones get pucks to teammates.

Considering this is the worst Flames passing team I have seen in years that is a skill that is sorely lacking and his ability is welcome. Personally I don’t actually find him behind the play so much. His shot is like Peewee level though, and is borderline embarrassing and his stick handling quite bad.

Good to see Rick Ball back. He went through some scary stuff.

Dube only played 1:00 in the 3rd, 10 minutes overall.

Rooney played 0:02 in the 3rd - that's hard to do!

Fun game, miserable 3rd. 3 mistakes directly caused 3 goals. Thanks to Flames_Gimp for the hookup for the seats, was a great view

Lucic somehow has fluked his way to 1,000-plus games whereas Sutter is holding back Phillips from NHL stardom. But don't worry, kid is only 24. Lots of time to establish himself.

I mean, this is just a completely disingenuous misreading of the situation. Every player experiences a decline, and Lucic has. That doesn't invalidate what he has done.

But ultimately, careers follow a cycle — as one nears its end, others can begin. That's what some people would like to see.

Looch is the best and I don’t care what anyone says, he deserves a 6x6x6 contract.

The situation is only one of these players is an NHLer.

Christ, lol. If this is your mindset about prospects then you'll never end up promoting anybody. Phillips has been banging on the door in the AHL for years now, since he was 21.

6 dollars for 6 minutes and 6 seconds?

Not a huge fan of Sutter’s odd comment re: Lindy liking teammates…I mean, how does Huby take that? That’s just awkward thing to say in a post game conference.

The discussion isn’t and shouldn’t be Phillips vs Lucic. It’s Phillips vs Rooney. Rooney is bad at hockey and has proved it quite resoundingly in 200 NHL games. Phillips might be terrible, Rooney is. Ritchie is right there with him too, but at least he can actually hit people occasionally, he serves at least some purpose. Rooney is bad at faceoffs, he’s bad defensively, and he’s bad offensively. Wasted minutes at this level.

Huberdeaus's struggles are overstated by our fanbase due to expectations, imo. He got injured once early and fought through, while learning a completely new system with new line mates and then got a second injury and had to bow out.

Let's not go all Toronto media/fan base on him. He's barely got his feet wet in Calgary. He's an elite player and will be elite here once he gets a healthy shot at integrating to the system and team.

Hell, he was showing signs of it already while playing injured.

Give it a rest. If the young guys can't beat out the fourth line guys then it is on them.
