That doesn't make sense without seeing Phillips in the NHL. I understand your implication - Lucic is intimidating, Phillips is small, but that is not how the NHL works anymore.
Physical intimidation is real for sure, but if Phillips came up and was an offensive threat than he'd be the player you'd less want to play against. Lucic looks way slower and less skilled than last year. Almost every play that touches his stick dies.
Honestly, I don't have an issue with Lewis right now. But they gotta cut Lucic's minutes in a major way.
I also think Kevin Rooney might be approaching the end of his rope. Getting serious Tyler Pitlick vibes from him. Darryl benched him again tonight.
Lucic was I think our best forward in the third period. He lacks skill and confidence but plays a vital (and massively undervalued on CP) role on this team.

Lucic, he'll take a dumb penalty and won't score goals
Oh wait, did I not answer your leading question correctly?
It was goofy and born out of the old school hockey days. A bruiser can still being intimidating, and Lucic historically has been, but these days he looks a solid step or two behind and can't take passes or make them.
The simple Big player > smaller player is a goofy assertion, which is what he was doing here.

Bad giveaway in the second on a zone entry. Great hit in the third. Stood up for teammates and played with edge all night. Hustled and got into neutral zone passing lanes. Made sure to get the puck out of our zone in the third. Had a couple shots.
Coulda been worse, coulda been Dube or Coleman (other than his block at the end).
Lucic needs to stop shooting it at the logos though and start picking corners if he is gonna get this much icetime though. But tonight is not really a great night to complain about Lucic.

And the funny thing is, Lucic and Phillips showed instant chemistry in the lone game Phillips played in the NHL. It's a false dichotomy timbit is pushing. Those two would probably two thirds of a strong lime if you can get them a suitable centre.

Honestly I thought he struggled to keep up with Mangiapane and had a couple really frustrating turnovers but picked it up a little in the third. I don't necessarily think he should be a scratch every single night but I think he's playing too much.
But ... I also think he's being screwed over by his deployment. He keeps getting thrown out there against the other team's best players, and I can't explain it. It's not his game.

I love having Lucic on the team. As long as it’s in a limited role, he brings an element to the team that no one can bring in the system. Fear, board hits that hurt and being able to throw them and win.
Ritchie and Gilbert have some of those intangibles but not on the same level with respect to intimidation.
It is great to have a heavy weight on the team.

I haven't been watching much of the Sutter interviews after the losses, but since when does he have a goatie? and is it a movember thing.
Aside from that our first line was great. I was also happy we didn't see too much of the 4th line in the 3rd period. Lindholm and Markstorm have been the stars for me, but there was a lot of good including shot blocks by Tanev and Coleman for a gutsy win. Z was also awesome especially at denying entries and between whistles. I still think that Lucic looks like he's nursing some sort of an injury, and that's a part of why he's been less physical this year, glad he got a big hit in tonight.
