The offense has struggled all year.

Huberdeau, Mangiapane, Lindholm and Dube have all struggled. That's 4 of the top 6.

Combine that with defensive injuries and a goalie that has gotten off to a slow start, and you're going to lose some games.

Doesn't change the fact that this is a deep team. They will not only be fine, they are still the elite team everyone thought they were before the season started (assuming Markstrom comes around).

If you look at all NHL teams during the Flames 7 game losing streak the Flames are 7th best in xGA60.

They are not poor defensively.

They are 31st in GF60 on the powerplay in this skid.

Honestly with two key players out and the league's worst schedule to start the season it really isn't all that surprising that a Sutter team is showing up, competing, but doesn't have the firepower to get it done.
Give it some time, this defence has been lucky as far as GA. Those numbers will get worse if they don't start playing better.

I predict this team will finally figure itself out and go on a long winning streak exactly one day after they are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

Despite all the doom and gloom, I'm not too worried. Flames have been outplaying their opposition generally speaking. They could easily be 6 - 1 or 5 - 2 over their last 7 games. Hockey gods are just not cooperating right now.

Bad calls, injuries, and no puck luck. Lots of guys playing below their capabilities - Huberdeau, Mangiapane, Markstrom, Lindholm. Things will turn around!

I hate to admit it, but that would be the Flames way.

Sometimes teams re-sign those.

Seems unlikely unless he's given a real and sustained chance and if the org believes long-term he's part of the solution
Right now, based on everything happened to this point, if I were in his skates I'd be looking for a different opportunity.
Which isn't to say I think he's been miss-handled, but from his POV he probably wants a larger chance at the NHL level.

If I were him I'd be looking at a team like Seattle or Arizona where I think I'll get ample opportunity. Less likely in a team trying to win now.

100% agree. Considering NHL minimum wage, you have to bet on yourself and find an organization where you may get a chance

He’s proven what he can do in the AHL, there’s a chance there’s a team out there where the roster and coaching philosophy are a fit

As others stated, I would think its very unlikely.

He reminds me of a player perfect for Europe. Would probably have a long career

That's my guess
