They are nowhere as balanced as those teams. They might have the offense but even then, the offensive balance is heavily weighted towards 5 forwards. To say you have 8 players with 4 or more points isn't very balanced (4 points in 14 games is 23-point pace) 5 of your 12 forwards are on a 25 or more-point pace? That's 0 balance.
So, you can score but you just lost one of the 5 who can score. But your defense is terrible and so are your goalies. They can't afford to stop scoring.

What about pedos and rapists? or serial killers? Or Putin? I think there are definitely people who deserve this type of injury or worse.

I forgot the person he was arguing with us that guys are taking massive discounts to play in Edmonton and said Kane just took one because he was on a 40 goal pace.
Hyman as well.

So guess we’ll see McDrai’s upper limit. Think they can play 35 minutes a game? Push towards 40 minutes?

I wouldn't be surprised if the AAV was a discount but the overall value of the contract is worth way more. I suspect he was getting 1-year offers for more, but circled back to the Oilers for more security.
On the eve of free agency, he was basically saying thank you and good bye to the Oilers, but then came back. He was likely intent on leaving but went back for more money in the long run.
I have no proof of this, just a gut feeling.
For what he brings to the ice, he is a discount. But no one was offering his on-ice market value, at least for more than 1 year of service.

In order to give someone a "discount", don't you need more than one contract offer?

Like Cambell nobody else was giving Kane term or that total value
He wrote his "thank you" to the fans and then came crawling back. This player cleared waivers less than a year ago

That was very unpleasant to watch. I have basically no sympathy for him, but it was awful to watch nonetheless.

Held off watching it until Barn Burner's podcast today. Wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to look, at least not Zednik or Malarchuk bad but you hate to see it still.

I'm not talking about LTIR. I'm talking about constantly flopping and having the league dream up distinct kicking motions to call off goals, .etc.

My daughter had her wrist cut with a skate a few years ago in a summer camp. Extremely lucky to miss the artery but severed a ton of nerves. It looked like the scene from terminator where he was repairing his arm.
Surgery actually stitched the nerves together believe it or not. Everything downstream of the cut had to regenerate. Learned a lot about anatomy from that incident. She was very lucky to not lose any motor function or strength but still has some funny symptoms as the nerves don’t grow back the exact same.
If Kane’s in the same boat it’ll take a while to get back to 100%.

Oilers F Evander Kane expected to miss 3-4 months

He's going to have a lot of time on his hands. The Oilers might be wise to assign him a chaperone to keep him out of bars and casinos.
|
Personally, I would let him self destruct.
Idle hands are the devil’s playground. And it’s a long winter in Edmonton.

Maybe Kane can spend some time in Vegas instead. I'm sure his creditors know some nice young men who will repossess his kneecaps, thereby making him forget all about his wrist.

I never cheer for injuries. Gotta admit, not shedding many tears on this one though.

I am guessing from the 3-4 month call, as well as from the video where the specialist said there aren't really any major nerves near the radial artery, that he didn't get significant nerve damage (which would be really good news for him).
I had my ulna artery and ulna nerve severed, and the nerve took 25 years to grow back (from mid-forearm), though it never fully grew back, and I still have significant nerve damage in my hand. Would have been career-ending, were I a pro athlete.
Kane's biggest concern is likely tendon damage - still terrible, but a better mend than nerve damage.
