I wish I could walk away with a million dollars for doing nothing and have people online criticize others for ruining my life.

That's the type of second chances people deserve. Show no remorse for what you did and get free money for doing nothing.

The most important take away here is that Trudeau did something, to.

Thanks for this sL.

I think the PA would have an interest in this though, despite Miller not being a member, because it could set precedent for their members. NHL contracts, as we all know, are guaranteed. I can see the NHLPA acting in a way to ensure that the League can't find any loophole around this.

Pretty ####ty considering the person at the centre of this, but I suspect that's why the PA would want to be involved.

The victim of Miller's bullying has released a statement.

That's hard to read.

Anybody that says it was an 'incident' is a complete and utter moron. This has been going on for years and years.

I can't believe how terrible the Bruins front office looks after this. No due diligence at all.

Heartbreaking.
At what point does something go from a lapse of judgement as a child/teenager to being signs of psychopathy?

Wherever that point was, it has clearly been passed.

It's not like failing to do due diligence was just a mistake either IMO. Due diligence is only undertaken by people if they actually care. I don't think the Bruins, or at least Neely, actually cared. They care now, but only because it made them look bad. I think they really underestimated the backlash and thought that they could do this unscathed.

Really sad that the franchise which helped break the race barrier in hockey is now tied to this fiasco as well.

Yeah the Bruins were hoping this would be a minor story and they would be able to sneak Miller into the organization.

Not consulting with the league head office, not talking to the victim, pretending that it not being an isolated incident is "new information" all points to hockey ops wanted the kid and it is better to ask for forgiveness than asking if it was right thing to do.

Noted, but I’m not particularly swayed by the opinion of someone whose only contribution to the thread has been scolding other posters and hasn’t even loosely touched on “the issue at hand” themselves.

No offence.

Offence taken.

All I was trying to do was keep the actual discussion on point, and lightly comment to you as someone who has never had a beef with you ever, as far as I understand and recall, as I thought hearing from an outside source might have assisted. I was wrong.

My take on the whole issue? Incredibly similar to most I have read, so did not see the need to add.

But since you asked:

What Miller did is reprehensible.

Had it been minor, had he done it once, and learned his lesson and been truly remorseful, then perhaps a second chance was in order, but as he didn't, in my opinion a second chance wasn't in order.

The Bruins were foolish to try to sneak this by, and their "defense" of more information coming to light rings hollow to me.

Well now that Sophia Rosing is out of school, maybe the Bruins should see if she wants a contract.

The last part sounds like harassment so he could get an NHL contract.

"I can't take this anymore"

But second chances, Miller made a mistake he was just a kid.

Yeah it’s looking more and more ridiculous as this goes on. I think it’s astonishing people were willing to give him a second chance based on his word alone. He spent years ruining someone’s life.

Thanks for responding, I legitimately meant no offence. I think you’re a solid poster but didn’t see much effort on your part to touch on the topic so didn’t see why you’d care how much I did. It’s all good.
