This will be your normal mid-term result. The party in power always takes a kicking in the mid-terms, so the Dems are going to have a rough night. It's part of the cycle and nothing to get all worked up over. It's predictable as a Yoho troll job.
Republicans will have a small majority in both the House and Senate, which means they are responsible for governance for the rest of Biden's term. They will not be able to go into the 2024 election pointing fingers at the Democrats for non-performance, because it will be on the Republicans to actually put forth solutions to problems and govern. No excuses now. Let's see how good the Republicans are at fixing problems their policies established while Trump was in the White House. Obstruction will be off the table, so that will be a good thing. We get to see what ideas other than tax cuts for the rich the Republican party can put forward.

The only judgment a senator needs is to vote with the party line.
While it doesn't look like a red wave, Republicans only need a red ripple to take Congress and spend the next two years reducing inflation investigating Hunter Biden's laptop and impeaching Biden.

Uhh, that's exactly what they'll do. And it will work. It's what they always do.

To be real though, what possible scenario could play out where Walker is a Senator and would have to use his judgement for anything of consequence?

Republicans had almost a decade to come up with a replacement to the ACA for when they had their next chance.
I guess the dog ate their homework that time, this time for sure they'll actually govern.

Its definitely not a wave election. Very likely better than most presidents party and quite possibly the best since the 2002 election.
That doesn't mean the Democrats will retain control of everything, but the party in control usually gets whipped in mid-terms.

Georgia could be fun as the independent candidate could push that election into a four week runoff.

I can't believe Herschel Walker has a chance to be a senator. It's hilarious and frightening. He has no clue what's going on in the world. I know he'd just be an empty suit and a gimmie vote, but he really is not intelligent at all.
|
Don't forget Georgia requires someone to get over 50% of the vote or they go to run-off. If it stays this close, neither guy will get over 50% since the Libertarian guy is at 1.2% right now.

Josh Shapiro (D) elected governor in Pennsylvania according to the Decision Desk. I saw a speech of his earlier and I thought he was quite good.

This is the path to Dems holding the Senate. Squeak out the run off and live to fight another day.

I say this every US election.. but the New York Times needle thing has got to be the greatest election night coverage advance since the TV. The thing is amazing.

Been following this guy quite a bit the last week or so. He's been pretty adamant that the Dems won't lose the Senate and could retain the house, too. He's either going to make a lot of money as a special correspondent in 2024 or be the subject of immense ridicule. Either way, I'm herd for the entertainment.

I'd love to see Boebert lose, but she'll probably squeak through. Oz looks cooked though, Fetterman is overperforming his targets in important districts.
