It really isn't. Best attendance for the hitmen this year is 3279. And most games were well under 3k. The low attendance for the Hitmen was 856 (at 7 chiefs).

If 2400-3400 becomes the norm than a different arena option should definitely be on the table. No other option will be on the table, nor should it be. The point of them playing at the Dome is having all of the infrastructure to run the game & provide food/drink service to fans.
There is zero added benefit of converting the Winsport ice & what…? maybe 10 Conference rooms to private suites.

I honestly think the Flames playing an 8 game homestand was one of the main issues with Wranglers attendance. Let's see how it goes over the next while.

There are all kinds of benefits to playing at the Dome, including utilization of the vending infrastructure and staff, helping cover some of the hard costs the Dome faces anyway, having the players familiar with playing there (for any that get called up), and the potential for higher attendance in the playoffs.
I don't see any benefits to moving to a different arena, such as Winsport.

Unfortunately, after the game tomorrow, the Wranglers are also on the road for two weeks.

Don't discount the crap weather too -- people are a lot less willing to go out for cheap AHL games when it's blizzarding and terrible roads.

Hopefully the scheduling will be better next year. I suspect the lateness of the move limited their choices.
They have 3 teams and two weekend days per week. The Flames obviously get priority, but they rarely play Sat/Sun back to back at home, which leaves the other day open.
And when the Flames are on the road both other teams can play a weekend game. I think on Saturday they could even do hitmen matinee and then wranglers in the evening (or opposite).

I don't think the Flames (or any other NHL team) play back-to-back games at home? I think you only do so on the road.

Yeah, I couldn't recall ever seeing that happen with both games at home - iirc sometimes they've done one at home and then the next night in Edmonton or something like that. I put rarely just because I'm sure there's some weird edge case where it's happened once that I don't remember.
But realistically they have two secondary teams - if they can get them scheduled that they are at home when the Flames are on the road hopefully we can get more weekend games next year.

I wonder if the casual fan doesn't even fully know about the Wranglers here in Calgary yet - to be fair, it is very new, and it is the AHL so it's not like most hockey fans follow the product. I'd wager that attendance will go up once people realize they are here, they're Flames players and prospects, and especially with way better ticket prices and when the weather isn't as crap as it is right now.

I presume the Wranglers/ Heat have always operated at a loss.

What's they capacity of the main Winsport arena again?

As a fan, it is much more fun to go to the Saddledome, get premium seats right behind the net and pretend we are the Calgary elite for a night enjoying a hockey game in a way we never could with the Flames.
I would have no interest in going to see them at Winsport or somewhere like that.

Bingo.. My son went to the game and got to sit front row next to the penalty box and LOVED it! We bought the tickets on CP for 10 bucks a piece, were going with his U11 team in a couple week and are sitting in the first 3 rows for 10 bucks a ticket for the team.

They would be better off putting the team in Lethbridge, Red Deer, Saskatoon, or Regina if they don’t play at the Dome. Each community is either within a few hours driving distance or has multiple daily flights across the country for recalls..
Playing at Winsport is trying to be a little bit pregnant. Either you leverage the existing production systems and supply chains you have in place for Flames/Roughnecks/Hitmen games or let them completely be their own thing in a completely different community.
I feel bad for places like Saskatoon & Regina in Canada. They are both large enough centers to support professional hockey but have been conditioned to think the WHL is satisfactory.
They pay professional hockey tickets prices to watch children play.

Don't forget about the Roughnecks who also require a weekend game 10 or more times throughout the season.

Unable to go to the Wranglers game today so have a set of 3 tickets in Sec120R1 for free, if anyone wants them!

Unfortunately, the much too loud is back and it’s worse than it was in the beginning.

Yep I’ve been to two games, home opener and this afternoon, didn’t notice any difference in volume today. Might’ve even been louder. Have to shout at my dad to talk to him during an intermission right next to me. I’m just gonna stop going if it doesn’t improve, my tinnitus is bad enough as is.

I seriously don't understand why this is an issue. I know so many sports fans that attend games and have never once been to a game with or heard from a fan that enjoys or even tolerates the noise level at Calgary sports events at the Dome these days.
It's 100% "Holy crap, I could barely hear the people I was with and was bothered by the volume all game". Maybe it's my crowd, but I've never met a single person that enjoys the Saddledome noise levels, I honestly don't know where they're getting their fan metrics from when it comes to the continuation of this?
