I'm not bothered by the reffing.
Flames played an okay game, but as tends to be the norm, the other team's goalie outplayed our team's goalie. Playoffs might be a pipe dream.

I really wish Sutter would reunite Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman. With so much roster turnover, this team needs some sort of stability. That line is the only thing we can trust right now.

In my opinion it’s a form of load management. They play 14 times in the month of November I believe and tonight was the first of three in four nights. It is a long season.

I'm frustrated, why start Lewis on a 4 on 3 PK? Why not start a center? Win the faceoff and slap it down the ice to kill at least 10 seconds? Instead got hemmed in? |

Kylington is dealing with something quite serious, according to Steinberg, so maybe give him a break.

it's a tough question .. the chances against resulting in goals have almost all been of the high danger variety

I think markstrom was a bit flustered with the lack of calls (as was the whole team) and the extra emotion may have interfered with his focus in this one

they were playing like a team that got screwed over before they scrually got screwed over .. doesn't help . they have to reign it in

Might go with this:

Huberdeau–Lindholm–Toffoli
Mangiapane–Backlund–Coleman
Dube–Kadri–Phillips
Lucic–Lewis–Ritchie

The missed shots on nets are my fave now. Every time that puck sails by the net and hits the plexiglass, I just think 'ooooh yeah' and my anxiety goes away.

He is technically listed as a C, he's just horrible at faceoffs.

Didn't follow the game thread- was wondering if anyone pointed out what looked like some subtle skate to skate contact on Backlund from behind by Lee in the Islanders' zone, which helped lead to the odd man rush on the 3-2 goal. Hats off to New York for playing an infraction free game.

IF you call it evenly throughout. The Rasmus penalty looks horrid in hindsight purely because of what they let go for the Islanders. You cannot let everything go for one team and then pick and choose what the other team gets called for, especially in OT.

Hrudey was right, you can't call the Rasmus play and not the trip on Markstrom. Complete bush league, makes it the NHL looked rigged.

This is bang on IMO. I've always been accused of defending the refs, so here's my take.

Didn't have an issue with the calls on the Flames.

Rooney's hold was a hold, but not a penalty vs what they let go to that point of the game. Ras made a dumb play and that's a penalty all day, every day and twice on Sunday.

Major issue with what wasn't called on the Isles. I can't personally tilt my head enough to figure out how not to call Kadri being dumped on the rush in the 2nd. They've called penalty shots for less than that.

How the hell do you not call Cizikas at the end of the game. That's basically a free penalty at that point. Seriously doubt the Isles say boo about that. I'd have to think that the ref down low was screened by the net, but can't really remember where he was. All of that notwithstanding, what the hell was the back ref looking at?!?!

Here's the kicker, the back ref for the Cizikas non call is the same ref who made the call on Ras.... Those two certainly weren't on the same page tonight. I didn't really think there were a bunch of penalties that needed calling tonight, but the calls vs the non-calls were as bad as I've seen this year. Just really sucks when all the tough calls seem to come your way.

TLDR; The Flames calls sucked in the context of what wasn't called on the Isles. Refs be better.
