Not a chance, but thanks for the points anyways. We needed a slumpbuster.

Now...can the Calgary Flames play against Spurs?

Four defeats in seven for Spurs. Completely outplayed until the last twenty minutes.

Maybe you could also get that ref every week? Between that and a Dier/Lloris combo, that would give you a title challenge this year for sure!

Apparently Hassenhutl is out in Southampton. Not sure who’s going to replace him there. I’m quite surprised that Motes hasn’t been more talked as being under the gun for West Ham. They’ve been poor this year, overall.

FSG has put Liverpool up for sale today. I can ply which shady sports washing group wants to buy them!

Really enjoying Arsenal’s season so far. Not convinced that they can keep it up for the whole year, but the first quarter of the season has been top class.

This is actually pretty sad for all soccer fans.

Its essentially FSG throwing their hands in the air and saying:

EPL Clubs cannot be run as businesses and be successful. Successful EPL clubs are now the exclusive domain of Oligarchs, Despots and dirty money.

They bought it for £300M and apparently value it now 12 years later at £4B.

It's definitely sad for Spurs because ENIC isn't going to spend like your new Qatari (or whatever nation state) owners. Maybe someone here should infiltrate AIMCO and we could own an EPL club though?

AIMCO actually still needs to make money, the Qataris and Saudis are trying to make money disappear.

Is that what they are saying?

Or are they saying we just made 4B on a 300M investment and are cashing out while the team value is high and we are performing well.

Have to give FSG credit for everything they’d done. Recruiting great players, a great manager, a huge new stand at Anfield.

Sadly Manchester City and Newcastle are going to dominate until the rules are changed to prevent sportswashing.

I think it is. Look at the model that FSG uses for all of their other businesses.

If they just wanted to make a ton of cash and ride off into the sunset they could be selling all kinds of assets, the Red Sox, they havent owned the Penguins that long, you get the idea though.

Selling off assets, even after significant appreciation is not really their MO.

They typically purchase, invest, grow and hold.

I wasn't happy with Spurs crashing out of the Carabao Cup on day one, but frankly seeing that every team in London is out is pretty funny. I guess at least we lost to a PL team and not to Blackburn or something more embarrassing, but it does suck.

They were meeting (yesterday I think) to discuss a number of things including no more replays in the FA Cup and teams in Europe playing U21 sides in the Carabao.

I personally think it might mean that they don't see a ton of growth in TV revenue.

Understand that to grow revenue further they probably need to make infrastructure investments to the stadium (which is expensive).

And that they still will need to spend to be a competitive team longer term and keep the market value high, and keep getting that champions league money.

I think they made the Super League play to try to lock in that champions league type of money longer term, and when that fell through this was the next step.

And they are probably right - I think that Liverpool's valuation is probably overvalued at $4B, and that growth like they saw in the last couple years wasn't going to happen again.

I could honestly see them selling Liverpool, and then buying a different team (in EPL or another league) in a couple years to try to take advantage of the same thing (buy low and sell high with stronger management and investment)

Whilst Everton put up a brand new stadium.

And we're having at least our loss wasn't the worst posts now?

Brentford with the upset of the season, and deserved too. Maybe it really just is Arsenal's year.

PL players at the WC.

Looks like guestimating who's going to start and how far countries will go that United will be hit hardest. Liverpool have nothing to complain about.

Quite a raucous ending to Newcastle/Chelsea, but always good to see Chelsea lose, even if it to Saudi Arabia.
