But apparently Huberdeau sucks and doesn't care lol. At least he is seeing what we are seeing on the ice they are chasing way too much, need the puck on our sticks in the offensive. It's just not him the D have to be much more aggressive at the blueline.

And to show some goddamned urgency!
The last few minutes of last nights game? That was brutal.

Guys that like to drink in excess? Don't think those are ever truly gone haha.
But I really doubt they were hungover at 7:30 on a Wednesday night.

The party was Sunday? How could they still be hungover on Tuesday at 7:00 PM?

Top 9 forwards seem to all be gripping their sticks too tight (maybe Kadri being the only exclusion).
Really haven't seen a lot of production from any of them at 5v5 and starting to cheat a little too much to try to generate.
Dube: 0
Lucic: 0
Coleman: 0
Lindholm: 0
Huberdeau: 0
Toffoli - 1
Mangiapane - 2
Backlund-2
Kadri- 3
8 goals between that group at 5v5 so far in the season is pretty poor overall, Ritchie (3) and Lewis (2) production have helped mask things a little.
Problem being that it hasn't been generation that's the issue, but finishing, so they don't need to cheat they just need to finish the chances.

Biggest problem is on defence. The Flames absolutely should not be giving up 5 goals to a team like Seattle. Offence was solid. They consistently brought the puck to Seattle net and were rewarded, even when bounces weren't going their way....then they just collapsed defensively after gaining the 4-2 lead.

Laying down the hammer is a good way to lose the room. Maybe he already laid down the hammer. These guys just have to play together and work through it; they're not the only team that loses games. I think we're spoiled and used to seeing Sutter`s hard-working teams that we've become quite critical when they don't play well. Let's give the team some rope and give them a bit more room to figure things out.

Man...Sutter must have the patience of a Saint because if I was the Coach after that game they'd have had to repaint the dressing room.

It may have gotten repainted between periods. You can only lay down the hammer so many times before the team stops responding all together. The players want to win, they are probably just discouraged and frustrated right now trying to figure things out. It is a good group of guys they just have to work out the details and finish their assignments better. We are letting in way too many goals I'm sure that's a big issue for Sutter. We had enough goals to win the game, yet some are upset at the lack of production. I think once you get the details figured out they can relax a bit and play their game, but when things break down it can be discouraging for sure.

This is a very good team. Huberdeau didn’t get 115 pts by accident playing with Sam Bennett and…whoever. He’ll come around and show he’s a huge asset, I’m sure. Kadri is kicking serious ass so far. Weegar is what he is, seems solid but prone to the occasional brain fart. Darryl knows what he’s doing. He’s trying different things to shake it up. He’ll figure it out. Give them a chance for Pete’s sake (whoever Pete is).

The problem is that the other goalie has been better than our goalie, every game.
It doesn't matter if the goals are weak (only a few have actually been 'weak'), but the bottom line is that they are paid to stop the puck. And the other goalie is stopping more pucks than our goalies are.
Weak or not weak, they aren't making enough saves.

Last night reminded me a lot of the Gulutzan thru Ward era, and prior:
- They are not moving the puck up ice quickly, instead they are exiting the dzone and moving through the neutral zone as a 5 man unit, in a very plodding manner.
- The opposing D are pinching at will, because there is no threat of speed from the Flames
- The Flames D is not pinching enough, their gaps are huge, and they're giving up two zones without any defensive engagement. And to make it worse, when they DO pinch, they are making bad decisions.
The primary difference between Sutter hockey and the prior regimes, IMO, is the way they play up-tempo, keep gaps tight, and push forward all the time. But right now, that is not happening.
