Soucy goal was bad. IMO (unless it was tipped and I missed it)

Sam Bennett has transformed into a good player though, advanced stats show him as 2nd in the league in expected goals from an analysis someone posted recently.
Their line doesn't have that Bennett/Tkachuk type player who can battle in the corners and battle in front of the net.

Something is going on with the team. They have been regressing the last 3 games or so and their top players on paper don’t seem to be leading the charge.
Guys like Huberdeau, Coleman, Lindholm especially have been invisible.
Way too many turnovers also causing a lot of pain.

Coleman looked good last night. Barely missed out on a few goals himself.

Thought TyToff had a good game. But as a whole, the Flames looked slower than Seattle right from the opening of the game. A step behind all the way.
Didn't think Darth was good...the last goal (I think it was) he was WAY too low and not making himself big, with his pads across the crease...he was ducked down and left the top of the net wide open. Which, of course, is where the puck went. And the two that zipped right past him...ugh. Not sure they were stoppable, but maybe?
Kraken definitely wanted that game more. Flames looked adrift. Too much home cooking.

Sam Bennett was a good player for the vast majority of his time as a Flame as well.
Masterfully incompetent coaches led to his misuse and then exile. Nothing more, nothing less. There’s a reason none of them have found their way back to being head coaches. Spilled milk and all that, but there is no magic elixir he consumed while in Florida, just incompetence on the bench in Calgary. Treliving was right to fire the coaches he fired.

This is what Markstrom did on the McDavid goal, also. Labarbera needs to be working with these two to utilize their size more regularly, IMO.

Huberdeau is a disappointment
Weeger is a disappointment
The line shuffle didn't work
Put Rooney back on the 4th line. They were much more effective without Ruzicka

Ya, after noodling on it a bit I think Sutter needs to lay the hammer down a bit.
The lacklustre effort is not acceptable.

A lot of overreacting to a loss, typical.
Just shows this team can’t hit the brakes when having a lead. We’ve been burned twice. Hopefully the amount of games in the next two weeks kick us into high gear and maintain a certain level of intensity. We can’t let losses get over our heads. Vladar also had a poor night, hopefully it doesn’t continue when he gets in again. After that performance, who knows if Sutter puts him back in for a while

Lol at people freaking out about Huberdeau. How did Gaudreau look when Sutter first came in.....?
Give #10 some time. He'll be fine. Good grief.

I'm starting to wonder if the goalie coaching team is part of the problem. I never thought any goalie improved under the previous coach Sigalet either. Both our current goalies have a certain amount of raw talent so you cant give the coach credit for that. Looking at the Edmonton series and what we have seen so far this year with both goalies giving up at least a muffin or two a game, I think its fair to ask what are they doing when they see blatant errors being repeated and they aren't being fixed.

Lindholm had 2 points yesterday and maybe the last two were poor but 3 games? They were good against the Pens

I blame Harvey the Hound. His mascoting has been severely lacking. If he didn’t slack so much and out some effort into getting the fans/players into the game, the Flames would perform better.
He’s getting old. I’m noticing some matted fur. Maybe he should be put down.

The issue is we don't split high danger chances into shades of grey. It's either a high danger chance or it isn't.
If you're cheating offensively you're going to give up higher degree high danger chances, but it's still just a count.
The shot maps show the Flames had the play but when they broke down they broke down pretty spectacularly.
With that you put a lot of pressure on your goaltender to make the save, and Vladar didn't get it done.
I think it's pointless to just blame the goaltender, but it's equally pointless to just blame the skaters. Neither had a good night in the end.

The goaltending has absolutely let us down.
We are the 5th best team at limiting HDCA/60 at all strengths yet rank 25th in the league in SV%. We are not getting the timely saves that all teams rely on.
