Doesn’t mean they were soft or Vladar’s fault but Lewis didn’t bury that chance that would have put away the game because Daccord made a huge save (and Lewis shot it back towards him) and Seattle buried their similar chances.

I agree
3 was behind him well before he had time to be across
I’d entertain 5 as a situation where he was across in time, and able to block a certain percentage of the net.. without time to read the shooter though.. that to me is a classic shot where if the guy puts it in his glove, he looks like a genius, but if the guy misses his glove, it’s a goal
And Kadri can’t give the puck away like that. That shot was nicely placed.

You asked a question and got an answer.
On the first goal, as mentioned, he's squatting way too low on a shot he can see and anticipate coming and being set for. It went over his shoulder and there was a lot more room than there should be.

Crowd needs to be better too. Higher energy more cheering legit helps the team. There is actual science behind home field advantage in pro sports but the fans in Calgary are constantly really really quiet. And it’s not like there was literally nothing to cheer about either.
|
I was there.
Cheers on goals and just an odd game to try get a lot of excitement or momentum going in the crowd.
First period was terrible, check the press comments on it.
Second had some good Flames goals, and the air let out of balloon when it got tied up.
3rd period, two early Flames goals before some fans got back into their seats after intermisson...rest of the period was pedantic before the air was really out of the balloon again with 3 against.
Also:
A Tuesday game against Seattle, after a game that many STH and fans were up for and excited for the past Saturday. And also 2 more games in next 4 days including another Saturday night, so this one is the one you usually find someone else for your seats. Nevermind the weather.
For us season ticket holders, we need a road trip as much as players do with so many games this last 26 days.

Sports is mostly luck combined with having good players who can move the needle to a degree. We’ll see if we have the players and the luck. I feel like this is the best team we’ve had since ‘91 maybe? Doesn’t matter if we don’t get the luck.
As always, I’m all in to see what happens.

true...even after all the nonsense the Flames hit the post and then the goalie pulls it off the goal line...game of inches. Seconds later they score #5

A hockey hotbed where 10-20cm of snow and a 20 km/h wind is a blizzard.
I love you, CP.

I miss last year's heavy forechecking style.

Flames have won the possession battle in 7 of 8 games
they lost 48-52 against Buffalo
Its just the few mistakes and every single one ending up in their net...they aren't hemorrhaging chances

I understand what you are going for
Your screenshot is from after the goal, not where the puck passed him
The shot was in the area around the glove, where there is some net, some glove
Vladar is at the top of the crease so about 22 feet from that shot location
If the shot is 80 mph, that is 117 feet per second
The puck is in the net .19 seconds after the shot
Let’s discuss reaction time - the eye sees, that signal goes to the brain, the brain reacts by delivering a signal to the hands, and the hands have to react with a specific muscle reaction.
That lag is typically about 200 ms, or .2 s.
It just didn’t hit his body or glove. Yeah, he could have been positioned differently. But wasn’t poorly positioned
Well placed shot

Vladar is your new Bennett...he had a #### game, let it go. His job is to make big saves, he didn't.
still a good goalie IMO

They are hemorrhaging turnovers. Often they recover in time to prevent a chance against. But when they can't recover in time it's because it's either a 2 on 1 or a clean breakaway against. It's happening way too often. This will be a very good team if they can address that problem.

|
I think the argument is they're getting too comfortable being at home, seeing their family all the time, .etc., and those distractions are creeping in and mentally they aren't as sharp.
Going on the road you get away from that for a while and just concentrate on playing. But being on the road too long has it's negative effects too.

The defensive play of this team was an absolute joke tonight. You have a 4-2 with less than 10 minutes go and you need to shut it down and reduce all scoring chances. End of rant.

Dude. The Flames D was ####
Kadri’s turnover was egregious and the shot well placed
The other 2 goals in the third were unstoppable
I understand you were there, so you didn’t have a chance for multiple closer looks, that’s fine
I appreciate that you are not my audience when discussing science and probabilities. I like both Flames goalies, and often sympathize when goalies get goat horns
Glad you weren’t hurt and nobody else was when you slid through the intersection
