Funny - I don't even notice them. Nada. Any of them. Just seem to be able to tune them all out. (Now if only we could JUST get rink sounds with no announcer....)
I notice them because they make the whole broadcast choppy and degrade the overall product massively. Their AI is still sub par and almost totally ruins the experience for me.

I liked how on the Ritchie goal Kadri was a millisecond from getting on the bench then sees it and immediately b lines right over to give props to Ritchie rather than join the bench
small small things but speaks volumes about the guy . you can tell he is invested in winning

I said it early in the game thread but Kadri looked like a man who took those first two goals against personally. Time for a Kadri jersey I think.
I think he is our number one centre. I like Lindholm, he finished so many Gaudreau set ups last year. But when I watch the two play I see Kadri as our true number one centre and a centre that would both elevate the first lines possession time and entries, AND have the vision and tenacity to be open and finish Huberdeaus elite passes.
At this point I almost think it'll be inevitable that we see this at some point, and when it happens I think it will stick. And before any hyperbole, this is NOT a shot at Lindholm, in fact I think that second line with him could easily be one one of the better second lines in the NHL.
Sometimes it's just a matter of fit, not promotion/demotion. Kadri will be a perfect fit on the top line.

I do however think that Huberdeau with Kadri would be absolutely incredible. Kadri does everything that Huberdeau can't up the ice, and has amazing vision, likely leading to finishing a lot of Huberdeaus set ups.
I would love to see Kadri and Lindholm swapped for a couple games to see the results.
I don't disagree with this, but having our 2 best forwards on separate lines also gives us continuing attack advantage. But hey, do a couple of games. We're currently the toast of the division so what harm?
We could also find chemistry where we don't expect on other lines.

Lindholm is having a slow start but he does have 2 new linemates. One from a completely different system.
I'm actually less surprised about Lindholm having a slow start than I am that Backlund is starting on time this year. He is playing good under Sutter right out of the gate instead of waiting 35-50 games like usual.

Yup Kadri has been our best player so far in my eyes.
I see a swap with him/lindy or a swap of Toffoli/Mangiapane happening at some point, Huberdeau and Lindholm both need someone to carry the puck.
Kadri and Huberdeau have showed some chemistry on the PP.

Yep, that's where I'm at. I'm not worried about the team overall, we're a contender. But eventually a contender needs to have an elite top line.
That may come with time between Huberdeau/Lindholm/Toffoli or it might not. To me I see signs that the players fundamentally aren't the greatest fit at 5 on 5. But they could also work hard on it and practice and become an elite first line. That's my hope, as that allows to have a deadly second line with Kadri.
My point is just that aesthetically I see a natural fit between Kadri and Huberdeaus skill sets that may be required to form that needed elite first line.
But we got time and a good team, so no rush or panic needed.

A tonne, they looks like a natural fit together on the PP.

The way things are going, Kadri-Mangiapane-Dube might just turn out to be that line. In which case, Lindholm-Huberdeau-Toffoli would be a damn good #2.
Huberdeau did get his 115 points while playing on the second line in Florida last year.

I am looking at the game summary on nhl.com and Ritchie's goal is listed as unassisted. What gives? Both Kadri and Dube made plays on the puck to get it to him in the corner.

If they became elite enough to be our number one line on a Cup contender that'd be amazing. And a true testament to the player that Kadri is. I've been even more impressed than I was even anticipating.

Yeah, wasn't that basically a pass from Kadri to Ritchie in the corner?
After the loss to Edm I no longer believe they are Cup hopefuls.

This will be an interesting game to watch as far as adjustments are concerned. The issue that I believe that the Canes had against Edmonton was that they fell into the trap of playing the Oilers' style of hockey, rather than dictating their own terms. Because the Canes lack true mega-superstars like Matthews or McDrai in their forward group, this IMO is not a team that does all that well in high-scoring/low-defense contests. Will the Canes go back to their game against the Flames?
Quote:
Let's get back to our winning ways..go Canes.
The Sutter Factor
Quote:
Excellent! Stepan scores as the period is ending.
Challenge for offside so they take it away.
Sad.
Quote:
Well that sucks. But there really needs to be some kind of limit on how long you can control a zone before the offsides 2 minutes prior doesn't matter.
Quote:
Lol. Love the silly offsides that has no bearing on the actual goal. Fun when it’s in your favor but so things go
Quote:
We are literally getting outshot 14-2 this period. Wtf.
Quote:
Really feels like Calgary is extremely handsy/borderline interference away from the play A LOT!
Quote:
The Sutter factor... ouch... we gotta beat the coach in this outing... props to Sutter
Quote:
Hummmm... Sutter got his boys to make some adjustments in the n zone it appears
Quote:
Flames are pinning us in the D zone a lot this period. Doesn't bode well for the rest of the night
Quote:
Honestly wondering what Sutter is telling the other team... he is a real good coach and fully capable of turning his crew going into the next period... went into this expecting the coaching to be a real factor and likely a difference maker especially if score stays tight
The New Guys
Quote:
After being in the division with Florida the weird season I am not sad to see Huberdeau less. Terrifying opponent
Quote:
I hope Kadri steps in a cold puddle and has cold, wet socks every day
Quote:
Kadri crashing the Goalie…again! What POS he is!!!
Quote:
He’s Marchand just in a different wrapper.
Quote:
Shoulda got a call for Kadri roughing up Raanta on the last shift.
#### this game.
Quote:
Kadri should have played soccer.
Kadri on the PP
Quote:
2-1 Kadri
Quote:
Kadri goal on what looked like a rebound. I think by end of game I'll be very tired of Kadri and Huberdeau.
Quote:
Kadri is a piece of ####
Quote:
Glad to see Kadri is ok enough to score after backflipping of that murderous trip from Staal
Quote:
Absolute goon Jordan Staal
Quote:
kadri with the dive and then scores. booooo
Quote:
What a f***ing dive.
Trash
Quote:
Hockey gods with no karma. Kadri just dove hard to draw a call and then gets the PP goal
Quote:
Trash call = trash goal
Quote:
While the trip was a possibility there, I feel like that was embellished
Quote:
That was oscar worthy, my friend.
Quote:
I swear to god hockey fans love to talk #### on other sports for diving but I see it so often in hockey too. Its just ignored mostly
Quote:
Felt that one coming
Quote:
Can we ####ing stop taking penalties?
Quote:
Kadri legs just fell off because Staal's stick touched his leg.
refs fell for it
Quote:
Shocking that an opponent dives and shows up the refs and they completely fall for it / go along with it…
and it turns the momentum a bit… can’t have the canes get too far ahead… need to manage that game a bit better and put them where they belong…
Quote:
Just getting caught up, what a f***ing sell job by dip#### Kadri
Power Kill
Quote:
I believe it took 3:30 of Canes power play to complete a pass in the Flames zone.
Quote:
How do you get a 4min pp and do literally nothing
Quote:
Very flaccid pp
Quote:
oh my god stop dumping it in its not working
Quote:
This is true. Either 1st is #### and 2nd and 3rd is killer or 1st is great and everything else is Topsy turvy.
Quote:
We have not looked good this period
Quote:
Finally we get a power play, have to score here, have to
Quote:
I'd like to have a restraining order for Pesce to not be within 150 feet of the PP
Quote:
Waste of 4 minutes
Quote:
Sjkei what the actual ###### dude?
Quote:
Can we PLEASE play 5v5 hockey?
Quote:
We need you to do your thing svech
Quote:
lmao the refs ignore the Flames f*** holding Svech's stick, then call the retaliation.
Never change, boys, never change.
Quote:
Why is the canes PP so desperate to enter and so rash?
This is like me on NHL when I'm angry
Quote:
A big hole I have seen in our PP is relying on entries on the wing with Jarvis. He tries to push it forward quick, gets smushed, and the other team easily picks the puck up behind the net.

Jesus that’s an embarrassing goal

I can't believe Lucic is still in this league and being played the minutes he's played tonight.
Quote:
This ####in team.
Quote:
Well that period sucked
Quote:
Flames over the last 5-6 minutes have significantly ramped up the hitting. Canes need to respond.
Quote:
Antii big time fail.
Quote:
Raanta, our little darling…
Sir, they’re saying “Boo-urns”
Quote:
these moron Calgary fans, booing somebody because he had the audacity to get cross checked in the face. LOL
Quote:
Lmao at Flames fans booing an obvious double minor.
Quote:
No they’re saying “Boo-urns!”
Quote:
Stick right to the mouth, damn...
Quote:
dang Lucic just make Burns look slow
Quote:
Burns lost a few more teeth.
Quote:
You know what they say, you're responsible for your face out there. Don't go hitting sticks with it!
Quote:
maybe we expected too much of burns?
That Tyler Foli, boy lemme tell ya
Quote:
If you’re gonna lose. Lose in OT. Especially if it’s a West team
Quote:
Knew I shouldn't have turned on the game with four minutes left in OT.
We're sloppy.
Quote:
WTF was Burns on the ice for. He was horrible tonight. He basically turns the puck over to Clagary, then tries to skate into the offensive zone to get it back, then his slow ass cant get back and makes it easy.
Look, Burns, right now, is not driving offense. He is a detriment on the PP because he is too slow to bring the puck up, so the defense ignores him and plays the other speed guys.
Another night where our goaltenders eff up and give away goals. Then you have 4 minutes of PP and it looks like you have never seen a puck before. Then roll Burns out there in OT to turn the puck over.
Quote:
Who called it 3-2 after 2?!?!
Quote:
I mean, at least we squeezed out a point but damn boys. Come on
Quote:
I ####ing hate canada.
Quote:
I'll take the point. We played horribly except for the first period.
Quote:
CALGARY WAS OFFSIDE AT ONE POINT BEFORE BOTH GOALS, TAKE THEM OFF

Not the time to stand there menacingly burnsy
Quote:
What a terrible OT performance there

Felt like we were trying to get to the shootout at the end
Quote:
Lost the game in the second but we get a point out of OT... oh well....
Disappointing last 40+ minutes
Arena Entitlement
Quote:
Here to support the very chill Canes fan base I met in the Oilers-Canes thread on Thursday. Go Canes!
Quote:
as soon as this play happened, i thought the zone entry looked offside
Quote:
That's just bad. Pull Raanta
Quote:
Different rules for Calgary
Quote:
why are they booing burns for getting high sticked lol
Quote:
Theyre booing him.. cuz he got cross checked ?? Lmao
Quote:
They didn't even take their time on that one.
(ref likely said, hey Daryl why don't you challenge that one "wink wink")
Quote:
How in the f*** did Lucic not get called for interference? Canes player ready to hop over the boards and he skates by and crosschecks him back into the bench. The f*** is that?
Quote:
Third straight pp for the Flames.
So close on the PK by Stall and Stepon.
Quote:
Lol three straight pp.
Quote:
Flames just pulled a Cane down, no call.
so obvious
You can't tell me that the instructions aren't to prop the Flames up to garner support for an arena
Quote:
Surprised the ref didn't call the hash mark for tripping Lucic and put Calgary back on the pp.
Quote:
These refs really coddling the flames right now.
Shows a clip of a blatant interference by Zadorov, a holding the stick by Mangiapane and then Mangiapane draws a penalty after looking like he got smoked in the numbers from a slight shove.
Quote:
It's pretty easy to win games when the powerplay ratio is 4:1 in your favor.
Quote:
Gotta get that arena!
Quote:
Kind of feels like the media and the league have taken the flames under their collective wing
