It’s rare for the Flames to have consecutive bad periods. This has been the case for two years.

A huge freaking difference from the old Gulutzan and Ward eras. Never ready for a hockey game.

Frankly I question Gios leadership now.

But the past is the past and this team looks great.

incredibly fickle fanbase . I am so glad we have yet to see that behaviour here . says a lot about a fanbase when you can lose with dignity . (CP overreactions aside)

The replay I saw, Backlund was standing up ready to go out next, Sutter patted him on the shoulder and told him no. Then he tapped Toffoli and Dube, who were both sitting down not expecting to go out.

So yeah, Darryl saw something and called an audible.

This. The way he is able to create space as soon as he accepts the puck is unreal. What a talent. With the puck.

In the Canucks home opener.

There’s something extra special about that kind of jersey toss.

Not saying they won't get there, btw, just that it's been pretty rough so far, 5 on 5 for our first line.
I think we are on the same page - I’m just stating that even though they aren’t totally in synch the team and the players are getting some results

Andersson is now tied for the most points for defenseman. How many more years is he signed to that bargain of a contract?

For sure, I'm not a Toffoli hater, I actually really like him and understand his value, Just in saying that the eyeball test shows Huberdeau doing some absolutely elite moves with the puck and dishing it to two wingers that simply aren't accepting them at a rate that will make them an elite first line, which you need to win a Cup.

Whether that comes with time or a change remains to be seen. Hopefully it just comes with time, as that's easier for everyone.

Indeed. I ordered a Kadri jersey minutes after this game ended.

I do however think that Huberdeau with Kadri would be absolutely incredible. Kadri does everything that Huberdeau can't up the ice, and has amazing vision, likely leading to finishing a lot of Huberdeaus set ups.

I would love to see Kadri and Lindholm swapped for a couple games to see the results.

I said it early in the game thread but Kadri looked like a man who took those first two goals against personally. Time for a Kadri jersey I think.

Great comeback by Markstrom in the 3rd. Hopefully he can start rolling because we can't keep spotting teams the lead. We have had to come back in every game he has played so far.

Terrible 1st amazing 2nd and a tight 3rd. Great play to get the win. I think Huberdeau and Weegar might be trying to hard especially with this big home stand and it's just not clicking for them yet, but they signs look positive.

We really need to work on faceoffs and winger wins.
